I finally got my new 28 ga after spending 1 hour with the rcmp to get a new fart number, 2 hours at the airport with Canada Customs as they wanted to verify and of course collect duty (3%) and our exagerated taxes! This 28 ga will be used for 20 and 28 ga side events and probably even main events. It will also be used to hunt over Oban, my Dhratthar. It is the ONLY 30 inch roundbody and only 30 inch 28 ga made by Chapuis. I know the owner since the early 80s. I had to negotiate for two months for them to agree to make a 30 inch! The Fench have an attitude: "This is what we make, this is what you buy" AKA Henry Ford! So after months of debate, measurement taking, encraving disputes, it finally got here!

I sent them my measurements, they sent me a form to measure my body including eyes distances from various parts of my body. After several phone calls, they were right and I was wrong! The fit is amazing! The best of any of my guns!

It is rainning here, so tonights pictures do not do justice to the gun!

BTW, with 76.2 Cm barrels, the gun is perfectly balanced at the hinge pins! I asked for 1.5Kg (3 pounds aprox) trigger pull on both barrels, they feel identical and are probably at 3 pounds. Once I get back from Europe in August, I will perform the true technical analysis. I will try to shoot it Wednesday morning before leaving for Europe!

I am drooling...........

Have a great week,
Henry;)

Notice how small the receiver is! It is an O/U that fits so nicely in my hands...............Drooll................

Forgot to ad: The SMELL of the wood and oil. It is just like when I visited the spotless plant, and so much more........More Champagne. More Champagne!!

We had a great lunch with René at a Relais et Chateau over several bottles of great wine including some Burgundy that was nearly as old as myself! And that was before going to his chateau for: More Champagne!

It is non-selective and choked IC / MOD. The barrels are hard chrommed. The insides are as polished as the barrels. I have been to the plant and saw them make these guns. I will try yo take some pictures tonight before leaving for Europe tomorrow. Otherwise, you will have to wait untill August.

BTW, the plant is cleanner than the Premium gun assembly at Beretta! They have 30,000 sq ft of temperature and humidity controlled warehouse full of Turkish wood. They do the proofing in house.

Regards,
Henry;)

BEAUTIFUL!

Very nice indeed! I just got a Franchi Veloce 28 gauge and I thought I was sitting pretty near the top of the food chain...that is until i saw this beauty! Nice piece.

Shooting any 28 gauge double automatically puts you near the top of the food chain. Although that Chapuis would be hard to surpass.

I am not sure I can picture you wearing a Beret, eating cheese, and watching Jerry Lewis movies. :)

Henry:

Great looking piece and knock-out wood !

Now stop whining about import duty/tax and a couple of hours at the airport.
You weren't really doing anything anyways ! :)
