I was fortunate enough to be in on the first production run of ATRS’ lowers. I received my lower from Rick recently and finally had a chance to put it together. Everything from the LPK fit nicely although the selector switch was a little tight but it quickly wore into place. I was able to take it out to the range today- what a blast! The gun worked flawlessly. The PMags work well in the lower- drop freely when you hit the mag release. I had an assortment of mags, actually and they all functioned properly. I am using a 14/5 inch M4 profile barrel with a CTR stock and an Eotech sight. That short barrel makes for a noisy gun in our enclosed shooting area but - oh well.
A fellow came over to see what I was shooting and his eyes really lit up when I told him it was a Canadian made lower.
After getting it sighted in I went through 200 plus rounds in a hurry. No walking trigger pins or touchy bolt stops. Everything worked quite well. I did have two FTF in the last mag but I think it was because the gun was getting a little gunged up and I didn’t have any lube with me to keep things moving. Nothing that a good cleaning/lubing won’t fix.
So thanks Rick for all your work on these lowers. I think it was worth all the time you put in and I am really proud to have a quality Canadian made lower.
Now, how about some in .308!!

Thankyou for the kind words, and taking the time to type them. in todays world we always hear from the unsatisfied, but it is REALLY nice to hear from those who are happy with our efforts.

Also a BIG thankyou to all of those who ponied up the $$ on an unknown commodity at the time.
All of us here tried hard to cover all the bases on these and to make what we felt would be the best made lower available on the market.

We have just finished up a 2nd production run of these and look forward to offering more Canadian made products as time progress's.

We have as have others submitted lowers that were different from "AR 15" lowers to the RCMP lab for legal determination, and all have come back as restricted.
Essentially if the lower uses AR parts and worse a mag for an AR, they will deem it restricted.
There are several firearms that despite not having any parts in common with another restricted or prohibited firearm that they look like, they are deemed restricted or prohibited.
The GSG MP5 imitation comes to mind.
This legal logic sucks but is the way Ottawa works:mad:

Way too good to be true, I would believe I died and had gone to heaven, or hell depending on your perspective.


I wish ATR had answered the question as to a 308 lower in the works?
 
Looks great. Mine has been fantastic with three different uppers. I love the look the trigger guard gives it.

A very good reason.
None of us here are able to run a machine with 100% concentration as it takes, and still answer the phone, respond to emails as well as look after clients in the showroom at the same time. So in order to get anything done have had to set some time aside for making stuff and a seperate time aside for dealing with people.
My typical day here is 12 hours plus and normal week is 6 to 7 days per week.
Yes we ARE that busy, but not complaining at all.

The skunkworks is presently engaged in R&D of several different items, but until they're ready, I'll bust out Drake from Magpul's line:

"We are not releasing any information on products that may or may not be in the works. We're always looking for new ways to improve on existing products and exploring boundaries of new ideas. Thanks."

Last time we mentioned anything we had in the works it resulted with 2 weeks lost time due to the phone calls and emails, so as much as I would love to let the world know what we are doing here, until we have something finished and marketable we are keeping a tight lid on it.
