T/C Pro Hunter extractor or ejector?

Thanks, do you know if it's possible to convert it to an ejector?

I really want one of these rifles but I hunt in cold wet weather and I'm not sure If I could remove an empty shell quickly with numb fingers.

Do you have any experience with that type of situation?

Thanks for the help,
Richard

I don't know if you can convert it. It's sure never been an issue for me. I hunt with an Encore/Pro Hunter 90% of the time, in some very cold temperatures, and honestly, the thought never crossed my mind. The shells are very easy to remove. If I were hunting dangerous game, then an ejector might be a consideration but for the hunting we do here in Canada, the extractor is more than adequate.

If fingers were so numb that you couldn't remove a shell, I doubt you could #### the hammer or pull the trigger either. Pretty much a non-issue I'd say.

The only extractor problem I had was with my 209x50 bbl. For whatever reason the 209 primers liked to stick which required the use of a CVA primer seater. The problem was the 1st since ownership (2005) and has since been greatly improved by the use of Vari-Flame primer adapters.

Wow a single shot with no ejector!!???? Almost any cheap old single shot shotgun does. I suppose the technology is too high tech for Thompson? :nest: :D

Heck my O/U Baikal 12 ga. lifts unshot casings and ejects shot ones! Now this would really challenge for the Thompson engineers!;)

Me too plus a lot less to go wrong. It seems pretty simple to me. Ejectors make sense on shotguns as you do a lot of shooting and reloading but hopefully you only need one with a centrefire.

Each to their own I guess.

Ruger seems to have perfected it in the #1, which I am glad they did.

One would hope so for a rifle that costs over $1200. :D

Mind you I know it's not in the same league as the other two rifles mentioned but I just noticed online at Wholesale Sports the H&R
Handi-Rifle has "Automatic ejection"... and only costs $339.95.

Years ago T/C did come out with an ejector system for the Contenders and I almost bought one for mine but luckily I found out that they were having some issues with them then they were discontinued.

If your in a hurry to reload a T/C don't waste time trying to grab the empty after firing just open the action without removing the rifle from your shoulder, thrust the rifle backwards then stop it quickly the empty will pop out then you just put another round in, close the action, #### the hammer and your good to go... ;)
