TC and what caliber to get?

So I'm really looking hard at a TC just wondering what barrel combo would be best to get. I'd only be able to get 1 extra barrel if I do get one. I have a .308 and love it but thinking I might get a 270 and either the 375 or the 45/70. Can't really decide. Would another .308 barrel be a good idea or should I expand my choice in calibers. I've only really fired a 308 and a 30-06 to date. I will use it to hunt moose, deer, and bear pretty much but some of the area's I go a .308 might not be heavy enough if I have to fight (shoot) a grizzly over a moose I'm hauling out.

You ahve a .308 rifle and want a T/C?

Just get another rifle in whatever you want. Unless you are a T/C afficinado..

I remain unimpressed by them.:D

I have a super accurate M88 in .308 and want a rifle that has more OOMPH since I'm not as recoil sensitive as I was since someone taught me a trick I didn't know before. I like lever actions and break barreled guns. Not fond of pump bolt or semi and I can reload a single almost as fast as most people can work a bolt. Since a T/C is much less then a Ruger #1 it's really the only next logical step. Especially since it's a 1 gun frame for half a dozen other barrels in other calibers so you can have 1 gun and 6 barrels for it in 6 different caliber. Easier and lighter to pack up a second barrel for plinking then bringing up a second gun.

Since you have now gone from inexperienced to being able to reload a single shot as fast as most can work a bolt, I think you should already know what you want.:p

Care to share what this trick is? :)

only if you want to come to kamloops to learn it....I don't know how to explain it other then through a little pain. And it works....60 .308 rounds with just the built on recoil pad and you still feel good to go....double pull a 3" 12 gauge SxS with buck shot hurts a little but not enough to stop you from doing it a few more times...not stupid enough to try it with slugs...JUST YET!!!

HAR HAR HAR. I just have fast fingers. Any retarded monkey can learn to pull out an empty and with enough practice can get good. I practice with empties. Open, load, close, shoulder, pull trigger, open, drop, pull, load, close....real simple...if you need help let me know I can go slower ;)

Its too bad we dont have dedicated muzzy seasons in BC. Go with the 270 and 338 wm add that to the 308 and youve got a great cross section for all BC game.

ETA:pS I'll race you for pinks my rifle vs yours to see who can get 2 rounds off faster

Ah... not so much a technique as a conditioning. :D

Then I have had a similar program shooting Milsurps with metal butt plates. :D

PS thanx for the offer to come visit. :)

Well, it's hard to know what you want from your rifle. But if you're looking for variety then I'd suggest something small and fast for one barrel and something slow and big for the other. So a .270 for the small and fast and a 45-70 for the big and lumbering. That leaves the .308 sort of in the middle don't it?

I'm a TC Encore fan as well. I've shot a few rounds from them enough to know I liked the whole idea of break action for myself. That lead me to getting TWO of them from the recent Frontier blowout. I've shot the one but not the other. Got all the reloading stuff now for the 7mm-08 so I'm hoping to find a press soon and start making cartridges so I can cure this little issue.

I'll never be able to load the Encore as fast as a lever rifle but it's fast enough and I don't have to go chase down the brass!

I think its a little of both. I know it works well with my brothers P17 in 30-06 though it's a little awkward to cycle the action since its a right hand and I'm a lefty....PRACTICE.
