Baikal MP-161K

Well had the Baikal 161 out today Functioned better than the 10-22 with all types of ammo the trigger has creep too much for a real target rifle . Now when I first tried to sight it in it was frustrating groups were terrible we're talking 5inches at 50 yds it would print 2 together and then be on the outher side of the paper it was wandering everywhere so checked the scope mounts to see if every thing was tight and they were so tried all kinds of ammo it functioned great even with yellow jackets, velocitors, american eagles , Dyna points wildcats, and even functioned with the blazers witch don't work well in either of my other semi's. Finally got pissed with trying to get a good group and then thought maybe its my scope wandering it's a bushnell elite 3000 but it had been on my 300 Ultra for a couple of years so I thought lets take it off and try the crude but adjustable open sights and to my surprize a decent group emerged at 50 yrds so here is a pic of it with my 10-22 and my Buck Mark with a different scope now installed the offending scope is in the pic as well awaiting the next trip to the farm . and a pic of the 50 yrd group shot with the open sights. like I said my only complaint is the bad trigger creep.

It looks great fit and finish are top notch I have not found a single flaw yet....the rifle has some weight to it and looks to be built very tough.....These are on the shelf at my local shop for $499.99.......I tossed a Tasco scope with lit mildot on it and a set of Tasco rings....sighting it in one night this week or the weekend if I don't get time.....I will post some pics and over all experience here after.

One thing that erks me so far are the lack of swivel studs!

Got mine a month ago and just installed a BSA Sweet scope on it. At the same time I also installed a target barrel and stock kit on my 10-22 and the Baikal still outshot the 10-22 by a wide margin. It was a windy day so I'll be making a return trip do do some serious measuring when I get a calm afternoon.

Once again, Baikal has not disappointed me.

I think I might say screw waiting for the Colt 22LR to be released and pick up this mean looking toy!
Thanx for the range report!
