Hi all,
I have seen the thread for getting the crummy black paint off the bolt/carrier, but has anyone tried to remove it from ALL the metal on the refurbed SKS? I can't help but compare the silky smooth bluing on my non refurbed '54 Tula to the rough flaking black paint on my Lever Arms '50 Tula. If you can remove the paint, will the bluing be under it, or will you just be left with bare metal?
Anyone have experience in this?

Thank you

Using a wire wheel with a dremel works good. Then use a polishing wheel and polishing compound and it will come out nice. I'll post a pic of mine..can't with my work computer right now.
look on page 13...I got the idea from another member who did an awesome job on his.

i bought a SKS45 with the paint removed , it looks bare metal underneath , even if it was blued , there would much be left after removing the paint.

the carrier has some surface rust due to the paint but that was easily remove by the steel wire wheel.
