GUNS137.jpg

First one shows the stock with a Pachymar grind to fit pad and the original sling swivel from the old SKS stock and the Cocobolo cap on the pistol grip.

Completed wood stock action portion done, filled and reinforced (note the old fore end that was cut off)

3rd pic shows end of stock notched and reinforced with screws and epoxy and hole drilled to accept new stock.(looks crooked ,not sure why?)

Last photo just shows new stock that I made and waiting for Varethane to cure.

You may notice holes in the action portion of the old stock. These are all drilled and tapped to accept the various machine bolts and screws that attach the aluminum side panels.

Well ,that`s it ,now I need a new project for the upcomming winter ,probably something for a CZ 858 (all new hand made wood furniture)

Cheers

That is really one of the nicest projects I have seen. :)

Are you going to make a Dragunov looking mag too?

I have not really thought about it ,seems like a lot of work ,and perhaps out of my league.I will however repaint the existing 5/30 Rnd. mag the same colour as the rest of the gun (too black and glossy as is)

Thankyou for your kind words !

Damn, that's some nice work, Bro. I can barely tell that it was originally an SKS...
Kudos to you and your exceptional woodworking skills!

I almost could not believe you did that yourself until the process pictures were posted! simply incredible, you my friend have a great talent!!! I agree with you on the M14 I would sand it down and bring it back with a nice dark stain.

Great work and thanks for keeping us updated!

Very nice!! Great woodwork and is the body from a 1 piece BILLET!!??

No sir ,the body of the stock (the original portion of the wood containing the action)was clad in 1/8" anodized stock and machined with router jigs and files.I had to keep this area as thin as possible without adding too much bulk to the action portion ,so some of the wood was shaved down and squared off.

Thank you for your kind words gentlemen !!
