Glock 17 vs SW M+P

I think the M&P IMHO is a slightly better pistol......

I own both, but the M&P goes to the range everytime I go, as opposed to the Glock. If "I could only have one" from the 2 choices...... it would be the M&P.....

But I did buy both.........

YMMV
Cheers!

Look at after market parts, along with replacement parts. Last time I checked Glock mags were $40, S&W mags are around $70 (someone correct me if wrong.)

More mags is a good thing.

Myself, I perfered the workings of the Glock pistol.

Im very sorry to say, but you are incorrect.

I just bought 2 more 9mm M&P mags (a total of 10 now) for $86.67. (after taxes) Glock and M&P mags are about the same price, close enough not to matter.

Both are very good guns. My friend has an M+P as a duty gun and he loves it! I like it too but I'm not keen on the magazine safety or the adjustable palm swells. I don't find any of them to be better than the others and tend to stick with the medium one...which kinda defeats the purpose of having them.

I'm partial to the Glock myself but I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I have both as well, and agree they are both pretty decent.
Initial costs of the guns and magazines are very similar, as are related equipment such as holsters and mag pouches.

However, if you consider the near non-existant availability of replacement parts from S&W, and the easy availability of oem and aftermarket parts for the Glocks, the nod goes 100% to Glock.

A caveat to that would be for the average plinker, the above might not matter.

I just can't wait for what you guy's are going to say when ever Springfield get's off there lazy bum's and manufactures 10 rounds mags for the XDM. It's like the MP & a tricked out Glock had a baby!

The Glock 17 is the reference pistol from which all are judged. $639 at Blueline. Give the M&P to the Iraqis, lol.

I choked when I read that. Lets see, "Harry this pistol comes with steel night sights must be junk compared to the plastic sights on a Glock 17". "Ya and the Glock comes with a 14+ trigger pull sure beats the 3# pull on this stock 1911. Love the plastic mags, much better than those steel mags that come with the Sig".

Come to think of it, you are right the Glock is the one most of us compare our guns to.:D

I decided to stay away from Glock because:
1. Every newbie has it (usually because of lack of knowledge about other guns)
2. Too generic... like Ford Model T
3. A lot of other guns that look better, cool and perform as good as Glock, e.g. HK, Walter, S&W, Springfield XDM, etc.
4. If I buy one, it will be customized and engraved... e.g.

i think the MP is ugly as hell. I think the glock looks way better.

I also think the hi-power is kinda ugly, but ugly in a classic sence, which makes it not ugly. if that makes sense.

Y'know I said the same about he Glock and went M&P....both good, get the one you like I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yes it is kinda true about Glock. Every now and then newbie ask what is the best bang of buck for a first handgun. Many people suggest a Glock. But on the other hand the price play a huge role. I bought my G17 base on the price drop down next to dirt. It is damn good for a $590 handgun but of course both M&P and Glock look sucks. I think the XDM may the best looking plastic gun if not.

From a biased Glock fan, the only polymer S&W I like is the PRo Series MP9. I wonder how many. if any.. in Canada

You're shooting it not ####ing it, who cares how "ugly" it is; it's all about function. ;)
