The RT M14 Assault Sight

Any picture updates of what these will look like on a chopped M14?

Also, how much will this sight extend the overall length by? 3/4" , 1" ?

Still waiting on the first samples to arrive, so no pics yet. I expect the sight itself to increase the length by about 3/4".

Just use initials(like everything else in this sport) and make up an acronym like M.A.S. then only us guys in the "know " will figure it out lol. Will the sight bottom out and be perpendicular? or are you going to have to find zero and lock it down? Set screws?

I would suppose a good ol' crush washer will do the trick.

The front sight will be supplied with an AR15 style conical crush washer so you can index it that way, or if you have a good smith do the install he could cut back the shoulder so that it indexes tight to the shoulder.

Also once indexed the front sight has two set screws that you use to keep it in place. I recommend you also use thread locker. That way you can remove your muzzle device without messing up the index of your front sight.

I think this one will be a hit... Might want to change the name though these are not assault guns.. what about calling it a "tanker sight"?

Will it be parkerized or painted? What about "fashion" colors?
Will the set screws be brass tipped to not mangle the threads?

I would say that your design is an extremely efficient example of what a GREAT front sight should be: simple, effective, last for a lifetime. I really like it and I would enjoy duracoating one with my next rifle so get your a** in gear and make a bunch. This better not be a teaser thread.

This type of sight works great. It would be a very useful addition to any M14 with a shorten barrel. It would be allot easier to install than what I had to do to get this type of sight which is described below.

I made my own using an M16 type flash hider and a HK G3 front sight. Threaded barrel to 1/2X28 and rounded rear part of flash hider to accept HK front sight. Then cut off the bottom loop of the front sight. Next drilled and threaded the connected flash hider and front sight for 3 1/4X28 set screws to join the two parts together and lock them to the barrel. The rear aperature's tail had to be shortened to lower the aperture to work with the front sight.
