Can you recommend a muzzle brake/flash hider?

So I know the best bet is a 1/2"x28TPI thread, but is there enough meat for a 5/8"x24TPI thread on the end of the Nork barrels? Looks like most of the .308 bored brakes/FHs are threaded that way, unless someone has something specifically in mind. I'm planning on pitching the factory unit in the trash once I get it off.

I do like the Dlask brake that threads on the factory threads, really makes a difference to felt recoil however it will not make you any friends at the line.

If intact, I'll provide you postage to acquire it rather than pitching it in the G.

Not sure it will be intact... i looked real close at it under some good light on the weekend and it looks like it's spot-welded. It'll either break with a couple solid smacks with the persuader, or I'm just gonna chop at the 18.75" mark then send the rest in for turning. Given my dad's skill on a lathe, the can probably turn the threads and cut a crown without having to strip the oprod guide off or pull the receiver off.

Doubt it'll work with a chopped barrel :p

Just ordered the SEI Navy Muzzle Brake for mine true Alberta Tactical Rifle. Take the old one off and slip the SEI on with the Norinco Metric Nut.

:D

I make my own copy of the SEI navey brake without the front sight dovetail out of 4140 with 1/2 28 Tpi. I have made a titanium one too, this one has been sandblasted, and is for sale for $100 shipped.

Grizz - I just chopped mine, threaded and crowned it all while having the receiver on. I also turned myself a comp using the SEI version as an inspiration.

Here it is:

Dude... that's dead ###y.

Next time I talk to Dad I'll see if he can do the cutting for me. He might not be able to turn me a brake due to the fact that he might not have any scrap 4140 bar stock that small kicking around, but as long as I can get the cut & crown done, I'll be happy.

Grizz,

There's a detailed video covering flash hider removal:
