Who stocks 'em and/or orders them regularly? Their website has no international dealers listed for Canada.

I know P&D has 2 or 3 of them, and I'll probably end up ordering from them, unless anyone else can chime in.

Specifically I'm wondering about the PT1911 in 9mm.

Also, can anyone comment on Taurus' customer service?

Cheers! :)

Epp's is a dealer. No 9mm's in stock, but I'm sure they can get one. Not cheap stuff any more. Epp's wants $816.51 for a .357 revolver.
Goble's in London is a dealer as well.
Taurus doesn't have a great rep for service though. They don't list a PT1911 on their site either. A 9mm Taurus starts at around $700Cdn.

Imagine that, the first guy out of the gates has to be a stupid twonk about it.

Thanks much to the poster who actually had a useful reply.

You know what dude, you need to seriously take a step back and evaluate your attitude. First off, his response may have seemed useless but he's right. I'll spell it out for you in plain english because boomer saw this s**t storm coming so, here it is. DO NOT BUY TAURUS. I own a Taurus and it's been nothing but trouble trying to get this supposed lifetime warranty support from Nichols. You know, two out of the three times I called I spoke to douchebags who only wanted to try and discourage me from getting warranty support. So, I speak to their manager and he is very friendly but tells me I am not going to get any support because Taurus USA is already trying to keep up with their own support, Nichols get what is left over which, isn't much. I've been on a waiting list for a very simple part that breaks often: the locking block. I've been waiting for this part since June of 2008. Another Gentleman has been waiting for that same part since June of 2007.

Tim.

Didn't you come here asking us for help, newbie? Way to make some new friends!

Try Ellwood Epps.

If you wanted a beretta clone, GMK armoury has a used genuine Beretta in .40 cal in the display case for $480.

Hey, I own two Taurus revolvers. Generally they are good, reliable, well built arms. But I take very good care of them because there is NO Taurus service for us Canadians.

I don't want to discourage someone from a very good line of firearms, but there are those -- and I did anticipate the replies -- who will and I am afraid they will only try to scare you with facts. You'll notice that the people who tell you these things OWN TAURUS FIREARMS. Not like we're criticising, say, a Norinco without ever having seen one. Taurus builds a good gun and may be a good choice -- but don't drop it or abuse it because the service will leave you hanging.

With new reputable dealers like Kodiak taking up some of the slack, this may change for the better and I hope it does. I could use a Judge one day, and I expect I shall buy one. But not until I have a little more faith in the customer service.

And sometimes it is fun to be a stupid twonk, because enough people have read the not-so stupid -- and actually useful -- stuff I post and base their judgements of me on that. I think I wrote one or two things that weren't totally ridiculous, anyway! So, judge me as you will. Guess I have enough to judge you already, should I choose to save time.

Stay safe!

Waiting for a taurus locking block, why? I did a little checking and just ordered a Beretta l-block, got it in about a week. Works great!

Freedom Ventures was looking into Taurus a while back, if that works out they'll be golden, 'til then, well.............

I got both of my revolvers at Epps. I went with Taurus because I didn't want to pay S&W prices for a .22 and the .45 was discontinued so I grabbed it while it was still there.

Taurus for Canadians is basically no service. There is no Canadian service deopt. Technically we still get the same "Lifetime Warranty" but since we can't mail our guns back and other forms of shipping are a nightmare to arrange all the paperwork once you do get clearance from Taurus that you might as well not even bother. Basically we are on our own, like those cheaper guns that come with no warranty or only a 1 year warranty and it breaks after.

Check with US Taurus owners. Some have had good service from Taurus but many have had terrible experiences. They sell ok down there so check with the users on comments on the model you were interested in, too. Then you can decide if you want to still go with that gun or not.

So, if you take care of your gun, it should be ok and offer trouble free shooting. If you are worried about warranty repairs and such, spend the extra $ for a Ruger or a S&W or in your case with the 1911, an STI, Kimber or any other well known make.

Aside from that, they are nice guns, but not as refined as a Ruger or S&W. One thing I can't stand is those cra**y "Ribber" grips they put on the Tracker series. :( But since you are asking about a 1911 then that doesn't matter.

I believe Freedom Ventures DID secure that Taurus Dealership and is currently stocking the Judge amoung others...

I bought a Taurus PT99AF Waaaayyyyy back in 86. She ran great, for about 10 years. Now she's a paperweight in the safe. Ejector broke, twice, locking block, and the Pin that holds the rear sight to the slide. NUMRICH in the States, had the parts,(beretta parts of course) and shipping was quick.
Taurus Warrenty in Canada is non-existant. I'd definetely look to another manufacturer.
Cheers.

I used to have a .44mag Raging Bull..sold it (and miss it! :() than got a PT1911 SS...no complaints about either gun!

but I don't think 9mm 1911 version is already out
