H&K P7 M8 restricted or prohib?

Hi guys i'm helping a friend sell a P7M8 witch is registered as a prohib,i've had several guys pm me and say it should be a restricted pistol,the smallest restricted pistol available .I measured the barrel with a dial caliper and it comes out at 105mm in lenght,am i missing something or is there a special way to measure it?.Some guys said their barrel measured at 107mm,i find it hard to believe he has the only prohibited p7m8 out there,i believe H&K has higher manufacturing standards than having 2mm difference in barrels.Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anybody know of any prohib verifiers in northern ont,i called the registry and so far 3 different people at the cfc haven't been able to locate any?
 
While they were initially classed as prohib because the manufacturer stated the barrel was just 105mm, I'm not aware of any that have actually measured just 105mm.
 
You're measuring short, you have to put a rod down the barrel until it contacts the breech face,mark it, then measure it. By putting the caliper at either end of the barrel you're actually excluding the tiny space between the end of the barrel and the breech face. That tiny space is very important.
 
Ian is right. These guns are often quoted as both "prohibited" and "restricted". Do the measurement Ian described. If there's any further question, take it to an RCMP verifier. I bought a P7M8 because I was told by CFC the P7PSP is prohibited. The guns in fact have the same length barrels. I've found repeatedly that while well-intentioned and helpful, CFC personnel don't really know much about guns. Their information is all from various databases which may or may not be correct. Do the actual measurement.
 
Hi guys thanks for the info,much appreciated.I'm gonna try measuring it that way.The CFC people are very nice and try and help but their firearm knowledge is lacking in some areas,but that's what makes it so much fun.Thanks again guys take care.

I bought a P7M8 a few years ago. Measured the barrel and it came out at a fraction above 105 mm. Took it to a verifier and lo and behold 3 weeks later my prohibited pistol was transformed to a restricted pistol. Good luck.
