Glock 21SF Twins Let Down....

Some of these gun finishes can be quite abrasive and actually pick up material from other items and hold it. It's possible that the slide smudges are actually not in the slide finish but something else that has left a mark of abraded material deep in the pores of the finish. Have you tried cleaning the smudges with some solvent and a toothbrush?

An example. On one of my motorcycles I had the footpeg brackets and frame side covers repainted in a matt black super tough finish called Endura. At one point I noticed smudges in the finish where the inner heels of my boots had been resting against the frame cover. Now being paint I had figured it would eventually mark so it was no biggie. But when I washed the bike the marks went away. Seems that the paint is tougher than the plastic and leather of my boots and was wearing at the plastic and leaving material deep in the recesses of the matt finish. These wouldn't just wipe away, they needed the soapy water to flush out the crud. The smudges on your slides look very similar so it's possible that they are actually material picked up from the cases.

I haven't tired solvent as I was worried about ruining the finish even more... Last night i decided to run the bare slides through my buffing wheel, it didn't completely remove the flaws but it seemed to blend and clean up the blotches a bit, actually way better then before. So I guess its not as bad now as it was, I can live with it. I hope this is not a preview of future glock quality to come. For all you guys that just say shoot em' stop #####in. I do see your point and that was my plan no matter what. There was no way I was guna send these slides back for warranty, the time involved in doing that would be better spent at the range....

As for the pistol themselves, whelp I do like them they feel great in my hands. The pic rails look sweet. My only problem is the mag release is very small and short and hard to get at. I hope there is an aftermarket extended option available soon....

The finish looks like crap when dry (normal)... put a little oil on the slides and then it will look even and normal.

are they f**king art pieces or a combat firearm meant for duty ?? suck it up shoot them...
Obviously he did not buy the gun to take it into combat . When was the last time you heard of someone polishing the barrel on their combat firearm?

This happened to me with my Norc 1911 Two-Tone - the slide had some blemishes on the LH side and top near the front sight. But who cares - I only paid Norc (CanAm) price for it :p and I LOVE shooting it.

I've actually since buffed up the area with a little steel wool and put some cold blueing on it - now you can hardly tell where it was.

If I was to buy the Sig P226 on my wish list I would most likely not buy it mail order - I'd want to go over it with a fine tooth comb first. If there are going to be any blemishes on a gorgeous gun like that I'd at least want to be the one that put them there. Kinda like my Rem 700 CDL SF - it was pristine when I bought it - the scars from hunting with it now just make it look better somehow.

Sig isn't known for finish issues, well in fact Sig isn't know for issues at all... :D Well ok just lately, but who cares, I'd buy a Sig over a Glock anyday. :D

Easy westicle im over it, surely you can understand how it would piss a guy off when you buy something NEW and it comes in s**tty condition...

I don't know why everyone is riding your a**. The most I can suggest is to sell them through the EE for a reasonable price and just try to get the most for them that you can. Or you could trade them for another gun/model. I've seen a lot of WTB/WTT ads for the 21SF.

Unfortunately you're options so far look to be sell/trade or keep them.

Also, you may want to do over-the-counter purchases rather then online from now on.

I still don't see what your talking about. Either your way, way too picky, or your camera sucks.

You've got marble counter tops and a nice house, so buy two more if you want "show Glocks" and shoot the hell out of those.

You ran your SLIDES through a buffing?

Not something I would have done since the rouge is abrasive so you just reduced the thickness of the finish on the slides by some amount. There's a time for abrasives and a time to try something else.

Hwwever the jeweller's rouge sticks used to charge the wheels contains a wax to act as the binder since the rouge itself is just a powder. Likely it's the wax that shined up the finish on the slides and at the same time helped to hide/blend what I'm now pretty sure is just residue from the shipping box that wore into the obviously tough and abrasive finish on the slides.

By solvent I'm talking about something you'd use for cleaning your guns on a regular basis. If the slide finish is marred by such a cleaning solvent intended for firearms then I'd be returning the Glocks pronto or sueing the makers of the cleaning stuff.

First of all glocks get shipped in there soft padded cases, they don't just get shipped in some card board box..... Second I didn't use jewelers rouge to polish the slides nor did I say I did. I just ran the slide through a soft buffing wheel, for the most part it just blended and cleaned up the slide. You can still see the flaws, there just not as noticeable. Like I said earlier the flaws are deep or underneath the finish.

I don't know why I'm getting flak, I was just pointing out a #### finish that I got from glock, (norinco quality) If I came off sounding like a whiner I apologize, I guess I was just shocked as the other glocks I own came in near perfect condition.
