Just put a 1000$ down on a new Robinson xcr in .223. My very first tactical rifle. I figure I'll pay the rest in two weeks. I was very impressed that the owner of the store let me buy it on lay away but then again its the third rifle purchase from him this year. Any advice or tips for this rifle(breakin etc) would be appreciated. I'll put up a range report once i have her. I'm going to keep it with open sights for now until I can afford optics.

With the XCR I believe the manual has a break in recomendation that involves the gas block selector position. From what I've heard on here if you follow that recommendation, you're unlikely to have any issues (who'd have thought that - read the instructions and it'll work properly). If you don't there may be issues (again, who'd have thunk it). I really like the XCR, and will probably get one (it's on the wish list) but for now I'm just going to be jealous of you lucky guys who've got them :D Congratulations and I'm looking forward to your review!!

New owner myself, I would suggest checking out xcrforum.com ,anything you can think of is on there and they have a section specific to breaking in the rifle - There is a specific procedure for doing so. Also, there is direct support from company members here on gunnutz if you have any problems. Good luck.

leave the setting at 4, shoot 200 rounds than drop the setting to 2 than you are all set.

I guess you you bought that at Wanstalls?

Yeah Wanstalls is right. Got the last one. I'm so excited. I've had my name on one from wolverine for a while and then saw them there and went back three times and it put a smile on my face everytime I saw it. Figured you only live once and may as well have fun while I'm here. usually feel a little sick when spending that kind of money but this time no. thanks for the input guys

Just run it with the gas set at 4 for the first 300 rounds.
You want the ejected brass to fly from 8 to 15 feet max, any further and you've got way to much gas coming through the block.
This can bash the crap out of the recoil buffer and everything else
I have my gas set at 2 and it runs great with little recoil.
These XCR rifles are Awesome. :)

You won't be disappointed, goes bang every time you pull the trigger and is accurate as hell. It has proven to be a 1/2 to 3/4 MOA out to 300m for me with the cheap 55 gr projectiles. Best money I have ever invested in a rifle!

You grabbed the one from the wanstalls site didn't you? I was drooling over it...

edit: guess i should have read the rest of the thread.

If any of you lower mainland guys are looking, last time I was in there I saw Chilliwack Dart & Tackle has a couple for sale. No idea on what they're asking though.
