From the hip?

In my limited experience observing pistol gripped Mossbergs being operated against a clock, the delay in bringing the gun into action outweighs any possible benefit in 'pointability' or shot to shot split time. Unless you have a verrry long thumb!

Operators with pistol grips on Mossbergs could not meet standard from a loaded, safety on, carry. Too much movement from tang to trigger. It is not possible to stage on the safety and to have a firing grip at the same time.

My buddy has a mossberg 500 w/ pistol grip and we go fire a 100 rounds in an afternoon and its no problem. unless we are using the "high velocity" rounds.... then after a few of thoes my hand is sore for the next day or so haha

Mossberg's don't work as well with anything but a traditional buttstock.

The speedfeed witness protection pistol grip is about the best compromise followed by the Pachmayer presentation grip as both of these allow easier access to the safety.

I really don't get why mossberg sells their tang safety guns with vertical style pistol grips......stupid!

Unless the guns are semi's .

clearly you have never seen the movie The Rundown with the Rock...he has a pump action in each hand...after he shoots, he twirls them so the pumps land under his armpit, uses his armpits to rack the slides (by pushing the gun backward), and then twirls them back into shooting position...he also uses the back of his knee and inside of his elbow...you may not want to try that at the range though ;)
