Hi Group;
I am experiencing eye relief issues with my new setup an am wondering if anyone shares my problem.
I recently mounted a 4x32 ACOG on my Swiss Arms Carbine. I previously owned a SAN CQB and TA31F, I found the two an excellent match.
Herein lies my current problem: my stance has changed. I used to operate with an old-school, rifle-type, bladed stance with my right elbow parallel to the ground (I'm a righty) and my left arm perpendicular to same.
I have since adopted a more modern, squared-off, carbine-type stance with my right elbow dropped and left arm far forward at 45° to the ground.
Because I'm now standing perpendicular to the target, my right shoulder pushes the rifle further forward than I'm accustomed to. This necessitates craning my neck forward to reach proper eye relief for the ACOG.
It's not exactly no-go, but is not nearly so comfortable as things used to be with bladed foot and shoulder positions. Unfortunately (or fortunately
) I find muzzle control greatly enhanced using a modern stance.
So... any suggestions, similar experiences or other input? With all due courtesy, please refrain from the inevitable "get a 'brand x' optic instead".
This is an option I'm entertaining but want to explore the issue first.
Also, I am aware of the TA33R-8 ACOG's extended eye relief but am unlikely to purchase one soon. As you can see below, the ACOG is mounted in the rearmost slot of my rail.
Thanks for any input, and cheers!
