TITANIUM compensators for M14 shorties??

I take a few if You would make them for 308win with 5/8-24TPI, I really think there are good market for Muzzle break in similar styles...

Magnesium chasis? I would not trust its integrity under heating. Both strength and high oxidation issues. And you can whittle pieces off with your swiss army knife

I'll go for parts made of niobium, the passivating oxide layer is indestructible and anodize-able to fun colours.

forget magnesium, aluminium, titanium, s**tnium

I'll have everything uranium'd

So you have a firm quote on the $150 price or are you just making up that number? Being in the machining business, I can't see getting a small run of something like that made in Ti for anything near $150 a piece.

More importantly have you considered the ramifications of threading a .30 cal barrel 1/2x28? That size thread will leave a mere .076" of metal between the bottom of the thread and the bore. The result will likely be that the end of the barrel will expand as a result of the machining and as well as the result of the internal pressure associated with each shot. This will completely destroy any accuracy in the barrel because the crown will not longer be in contact with the bullet.

Stop talking sense man it's TITANIUM!!! It's not for shooting with it's for looking at. I also like how they would look soooo much better unfiished. Can I put two on the same gun?

I'm not a machinist.. So bare with me.. once you install the break with thread lock aren't use in effect replacing the metal?

Suputin,
the AR 15 standard 1/2" x 28 TPI muzzle thread is well proven on M14 shorty barrels. I've done a few dozen such set ups myself, and know of dozens more. While your concerns are teoretically plausible, no accuracy issues have shown up in the real world.

Many sub moa groups with my chopped norc barrel wearing 1/2x28tpi, there are many more like mine. Sadly this just doesn't happen in the real world.

Sean,
is that the shorty with the GI bolt that you got from me ?

Like Sean says, many norinco barrels are capable of pretty decent accuracy ... but most of them need TIGHTER headspace to get really good groups, and this usually requires a GI bolt fitted to .308 GO.

So far, many of the shorties, with or without flashiders or compensators, shoot as well or sometimes even better than the standard length out of the box Norc 14s.

Yep its from you.

Standard norc bolt though. It is very close to .308 go but not quite. Nice work on the trigger BTW .
