why do so many people post irons for sale in the Exchange of Antique Firearms,

Black powder, and Modern Muzzle loaders forum that aren't Antique Firearms,

Black powder, or Modern Muzzle loaders?

It baffles me...I'm always seein iron that doesn't belong there and it rarely gets moved to the proper forum.

Did I miss something somewhere or is that just the way it is? :confused:
 
It's because most people don't know the diff. between, an in-line, modern replica, orig., black powder, pyrodex, 777, etc.....alot on here call a modern inline, using 777, a "black powder rifle"...go figure!
 
I haven't noticed much that doesn't fit. Unless by antique you are looking just for guns that fall under the legal definition. That would be overly strick and not really make a lot of sense because much of the modern muzzleloader stuff and reproductions have to be registered anyway. What type of guns are you thinking of in particular?

In my mind any designs that predate WWI fit into this catagory and we'll put up with the modern in-line stuff if we have to though I would rather see them (and anything made of plastic) bumped to the general hunting rifle exchange.

So if I use black-powder in my TC Encore I call it a "black-powder rifle"...but if I use 777 I call it a "black-powder substitute rifle". ;)
 
There had been talk of having separate areas for antiques and modern but it was decide that we are to small a group to split up. Also I think it is better for the hobby if we are all together, we can learn from each other.

I was more thinkin about the 100 yr old leverguns and such that aren't Antique Firearms,

Black powder, or Modern Muzzle loaders...

I like the diversity of the forum,but was just wonderin where the line was drawn...

Technically you are correct,I personally believe the old irons that you mention are in the best forum for persons wishing to sell them.
I do appreciate the question, this is the first feedback we've had.

I like the setup a lot. I like to see the whole range of what all is out there and most folks here know what is "antique" and what is simply old. Thoses that don't can ask. Folks here have be very kind in telling me what is what.
 
The answer was in front of me all along-lol

I think the title of this forum holds the answer and says it best-

Blackpowder and Antiques For the lovers of the old ways

old is old regardless of government classification.
