Has anyone built a protable table top press mount? I have seen some for Sinclair and was wondering if you have built one.
I would be interested in seeing a wooden portable mount for a Hornady or RCBS. Space is limited in m place and a dedicated reloading bench is not possible.

I to had limited space... so i use a mastercraft folding metal sawhorse, press mounted on a 2x6, then C-clamped onto the sawhorse... makes a nice small little station. plus a 2x6 across the supports to make a makeshift table under the press.

maybe i'll post a pic... but works great for me... i also procured a folding work table which i might make into a gun cleaning station.

i to like the limited space station, and ease of transporting and setting up anywhere with little to no hassle.

cheers...

I have a Lee press and powder thrower that I have bolted to a small piece of ply which I sometimes clamp to my desk if I do a little reloading at my desk.

I rarely use this setup unless it's too cold in the garage where my dedicated setup is.

I use Irwin straight bar "C" type clamps with ratchet adjust.

Makes a fairly sturdy platform for loading my .223 and/or 6BR. I wouldn't try and rezise Magnum cases with this setup but for smaller calibers, it works just fine.

I spend years with a press bolted to 18 x 18 square chunk of wood. It got clamped to a lot of tables, dresser tops with the top drawer removed, and often enough just held on my lap.

Some pics would be helpfull

I have the RCBS mounting plate and I just take my Rock Chucker to the range with me. Screw the plate down with 4 drywall screws on the corner of a table, and attach the press. simple.

Although my press is bolted down perm. All the other reload equip. is not.
Gray base plates are 1/4" stainless plate, bead blasted.
Block under powder meas. is solid steel as well as SS chunk under trickler.
I also made a holder out of aluminum for shell holder's and pilots.
I was thinking about welding in a piece of hitch receiver tubing while I was making it, so that multiple attachments could be swapped in and out. To keep it simple, you could grab an old 2" rec. hitch and bolt it underneath the table, strong, hidden and out of the way.(Maybe weld a 5/8 nut over the pin hole so that you can run a bolt through to cinch it up.

See Below for link to Plans for Sinclair Desktop Press mount

I made a copy of the sinclair stand, I find this a very useful system. The link includes a set of bluprints to make your own press stand.

My space is small, so anything that makes setup and take down fast is invaluable. With this press stand, I no longer have to bolt the press to my temporary work table, and can take the press easily to the range for load tuning.

I've have my Dillon 550 c/w strong mount bolted to a 30" 2x12 then clamped to my workmate. Works like a charm, and leaves a lot more room for the other necessary stuff.

Thanks Guys alot of great ideas for a small space.
Savage Express i really like the idea of mounting acessories to plates.
Rollie I like the idea of your set up but may adjsut it to a workmate.

Great ideas for a small space!

I already had a 5" vise on my workbench so I bolted my press and powder measure to a 2X4 and clamp it in the vise. One of these days I'll get fancy and replace the 2X4 with a sturdy chunk of angle iron and build an elevated shelf for my scale so I don't have to crouch the see if the marks are lined up.
