AR pivot and rear takedown pin question

Is anyone familar with the KNS push button takedown and pivot pins?
I'm wondering if they are employed could one forego using those pesky spring loaded detents?
I like the original colt screw type pivot pin, is there a screw like rear takedown pin out there?
I'm forever losing the detents and springs, I think its a weak link in the AR system.
 
Wow, couldn't disagree more. I don't understand how you could lose the springs and detents regularly, as you should never, ever take the front one out, and the rear only to change stocks. The Colt affair, which in no way was original, was an abortion and the KNS is designed to part money from fools. The normal, factory push pin that has been in service on these guns since 1963 is the way to go, so far as I can tell.
 
While I'm no expert on the AR, my factory push pins work great, and the rifle can easily be halved, without the use of any tool, and no way I'm losing a spring. Just my 2 bits.

No... they are totall self-contained. I tried a set in one of my guns... frankly they are more a pain in the ass than they are worth. To open the gun you have to totally remove the pin from the lower (which is easy enough to do but not as easy as simply pushing it in as is the case with the factory type setup). To halve the gun you have to remove both pins... again, not hard to do but frankly it's just easier to perform regular maintenance using the normal factory type pivot and takedown pins.

I just haven't gotten around to re-installing the factory standard type pins... but will end up doing so as they are just easier to use and I gain nothing from the KNS pins.

If you want to be "different" and have money to burn then go ahead and use them but I just don't see any value in them, especially not for the additional money.
