Which hunting rifle do you love to hate?

My first turn-off is a synthetic stock, I don't care if it's a Weatherby and a close second is laminated. Stainless is OK but I still prefer blued. I have owned over the years many configurations, levers, autos etc. but my weakness is the Mauser, some single shots and the SxS shotgun made in the dim past. --- John303.

Winchester 94, I have never seen anyone actually hit something further than 50 yards with one.

I gotta say I disagree with this one. I have a Ranger 30/30 and it shoots nice groups and an uncle of mine (back when he could see good enough for open sights) was pretty deadly with an old '94. I also own a Tikka M658 in 30.06 that IMO is a great rifle... capable of shooting better than I can.

I hate anything not:

.270
.308
.30-06
.338
.375
.45-70

Any idiot that is willing to spend thousands of dollars and thousands of hours trying to modify a range of perfectly accurate and appropriate rounds for hunting anything from butterflies to Elephant and everything in between is a ####tard. :beehive:

If your false sense of superiority is based on adding AI, RUM, RSAUM, Winmag or anything else, then you have no common sense. You're attempts to build superiority by breaking away from the crowd really just proove your douchbaggery to anybody who cares to listen to your mewling.

If by superior, you mean a waste of time and money, in order to accomplished what has already been done, in style, then I suggest that you give your head a shake, or perhaps a new hole.

30-06 haters, this is for you. You overcomplicate things with expensive setups, and complicated rigs, an arsenal of different guns for different calibres with reformed brass, custome dies and on and on and on in order to to achieve exactly what any yokel can do with $20 in Canadian tire money and a box of any normal established, cheap and PROVEN calibre.

Whatever hobby you have, I'm glad you enjoy it. But to hate on the practical for performance, results and efficiency is proving to the world that your opinions aren't worth ####. Go ahead and reinvent the wheel, but don't be suprised when the world ignores you.

..... anything tactical. :puke:

I'm sick of seeing Remington and the like pumping out "Team Ninja Desert Recon Digital Camo Extreme Entry Tactical Weapons Systems" to every prepubescent pimple squeeezzer who graduates from playing x-box. ;)

.

 You're my hero!

I would say the SKS. I also hate just about everything Tokerov has ever made, but I digress.

That was a sweet rant. :agree:

That said, there are some other cartridges in the BR area that are apparently pretty awesome. 6mm PPC comes to mind.

Things I love to hate:

-Anything that has Mossberg written on it (except the shotguns). There are cheap guns but those things are ridiculous.

-Remington 700 SPS. All you have to do is breath on it heavy and it wil rust. (stainless is ok)

-30-06 haters

-Anything short action (except 22-250)

-That miserable 375 Ruger. It won't replace the 375 H&H... get over it!

-Ruger #1 (only 'cause I can't afford one)

-Kimber, Sako etc because someone BS'd someone else into believing they're worth the money..Hah!

-People who rag on inexpensive rifles (Savage, Stevens, Howa, Marlin etc) They look cheap because they are cheap. Do they shoot straight? If they do then they're worth the money. If your biggest complaint is that it doesn't have a wooden stock then go buy a wooden stock for it.

-Hate to admit it but the A-bolt's magazine. What crack head came up with that.

I need to sit down now... was it the red pill or the blue pill that pulls you back to reality?

I cannot appreciate the aesthetics of the Savage 99. The Browning A-bolt has also never appealed to me. The triangular bolt body is ridiculous.

I hate:

Package Rifles - buy a decent scope ya douche
Mossberg rifles - all of them
Most (but not all) modern Savage rifles
The much hated T3
The Remington 770 - why bother? just get a 700 for gawd sakes
Any Browning Lever Action - So ugly and nasty
Any pump action rifle - so redic

Browning A-Bolt. Decent guns, just don't enjoy using them, nor the look of them. Also, almost un-resellable for reasons I don't understand given they're a reputable make. Took forever, and a massive loss on investment, to sell the two A-Bolts I've owned, which I should be clear were desirable models. Swore I'd never buy another after I picked up the first one and tried it... then I bought another a couple years later, don't ask me why. After a bought that one, I really, really swore off A-Bolts. Fool me once...

Ironically if there had been no SKS then there would have not been 7.62x39, and then no .220 Russian, then no 6mm PPC.

You should sell them here in NB. They love em here. I think it's the gold trigger. ;)

Said that ..... I have an orphan A-Bolt 22-250 in the safe that is one of the most cosistant rifles I have ever seen or owned. I can't sell it, no matter how hard I try.

5. Lever action/pump action/semi-auto

Can put up semi-autos but I can't stand pump rifles.

remington pump rifle-

I also hate any rifle that looks like this

7600002-1.jpg

I hate my hunting partners Remington 7600. Its 20+ years old, rusty, rode hard/ put away wet and crooked!
....and every year he shoots the moose with it :D

Centerfire Pump Action Rifles

I love brocolli.... just can't stand pump rifles.... :p

NAA.

Any pump action rifle - so redic

Yous guys are all sick. ;)

Funny how an 870 is the greatest SG out there, but the same platform in a CF rifle is junk or "redic". I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of pump haters haven't really spent any time using one. :D

I couldnt agree more with you. Im the only one in my hunt camp that doesnt use the 760 (older) remington. Great functioning rifle, very reliable and accurate.

I tend to agree with this, but I'd have to add .22-250 to the list and take of .45-70. :) But that's mostly because of where I live.

Sorry guys I went off on calibres and did't answer the OP.

As for hunting rifles, I don't hate any. For hunting, all rilfes, even the ####ty ones, sometimes come out of the factory as a shooter. If it is accurate, I love it.

However, I would never buy for aesthetic and durability reasons, the A-Bolts, Rem 770 or 710. There may be others, but I don't have any experience with them. I also don't like detachable mags in hunting rifles.

The ones I would love to have:

Marlin Guide gun Stainless- 45-70
Ruger #1 Stainless Tropical .375 H&H
Remington 700 Sendero in .223 for gopher and coyote and project gun.
Remington Super Tactical Ninja Operator Mall-Ninja Supreme Deluxe w/ free ninja boots that let you climb walls.
