Well guys, I have to say this. BIG thanks to Maynard for The open Inveite to this practice day, AND the extremely nice donation of some Surplus 308.
I brought out the almost new Nork M-14s to Give this 300m thing a try. This was the first time ive shot that far on a range, first time to a military range, and a few other firsts and not since way backs. Reminded me of way back when 308 was cheap and FN FAL's were just regular guns. The shooters out there were all friendly and had some nice rigs. I could also see through my cheap spotting scope that they were pretty good shots too! lots of bulls and Vbulls being marked.
300m is a decent challenge. Especially with my rig, but I managed some good hits. I sot somewhere over 100 rounds with all hits on paper and 3/4 of them in the black. 2 vbulls, 12 bulls, 21 4s. my best 3 strings were my last ones before lunch when I was all warmed up 32/50 33/50 1v 26/50. went a bit downhill in the afternoon though.
I had a great time, well worth the visitor fee and the 1h 15m drive each way.
I learned alot and will likely be back again to see if I can get better.
Oh yah, thanks again Tom.
And anyone who thinks about this and doesnt do it, is missing out BIG time.
here the rig out on the line
long way off. Those targets are small!
