.45 ACP costs these days

Seems to be running about $25/box of 50 or there about. One reason many people reload their own. And then there's the lucky few who have 9mm or .22 conversion kits for their .45's :)

Wolf, 16 to 19 a box 230 grain, Notc 230, 19 a box and have to get name of the other box i have, but 20 a box and its factory, thats about the cheaspest , oh o got lucky a couple months ago, to surplus boxes of ammo 230 grain, 15 dollars a box, one made in the 70;s, the other the 40's

You couldn't find any factory .45ACP to buy here in St. John's, NL, a few weeks ago, and I doubt the situation has improved yet. Reloading is far cheaper, although more expensive than it used to be. Just picked up some 230 gr .45 bullets from AIM Projectiles for about 12 cents apiece.

Plus 4 cents for a primer, and 3-4 cents for powder, given that brass lasts forever (until you lose it), you are still right in there at 20 cents per

Cast bullets will save you big time with .45 ACP whether you buy them in bulk or cast your own. I have been satisfied with bullets from either Plains Ammunition Supply or M.T. Chambers (aka Ben Hunchak here on CGN).
