I like taking pics of my firearms, and there aren't enough pics up on this site, so I won't pretend that this is anything more than it is... just some pics of my rifles.

First, the Red. I recently picked up a brand new (unfired) CZ858 Tactical 4V (restricted) in the EE for $600 with mags and all the do-dads (dull bayonet anyone?). I just bought this to increase my bang-time at the range for a relatively low cost. Fired it for the first time over the weekend. Man, these things are fun! They heat up like an s.o.b., but they are fun. Pretty accurate too.

Some comparison shots with my Swiss Carbine (Green, duh). Yes, I know that my A.R.M.S. mount for my ACOG Compact is on backwards. I did it that way on the recommendation of Colin (the PoCo RO) to get it back far enough for proper eye relief. This set-up actually works well, The only things is, I wish I could get the throw lever on the other side. I could probably do it by drilling another hole in the base of the mount and maybe some other bubba mods. For now it works fine. The 3x24 ACOG compact is an awesome sight btw. Exactly what I wanted for this gun. Part way between a CQB site (Aimpoint, EOtech, etc.) and a rifle scope. Check out my "Canadian made" brass deflector (hockey tape :)).

And here are some comparison shots with my 9mm AR-15 (evil Black rifle). This is the same gun from my other thread (obviously), so I won't spell out the specs again (and yes, the front site probably is on backwards... depends on who you ask).

What's next? Humm... dunno. I think I have enough handguns for now. Seems like precision rifles (bolt action) are the thing with a lot of the guys at my range currently (I'm not getting a .338 like some guys though... I don't reload!) and my girlfriend wants to start hunting some time soon (she likes going on trips, wilderness, etc.). Things could definitely be worse than having a girlfriend that likes going to the range every week and wants to start hunting!

Are you able to get a good cheek weld on your SA carbine with the acog mounted so high? Looks really high up there.
 
Well, yes and no. The standard type of cheek-weld will line your eye up with the diopter, so it has to be higher than that to see the scope properly. You can still get your face on the stock pretty good and get the right eye relief/height on the scope. It works well for me. I could get a riser on the stock, but I don't think I need it right now. The gun is crazy accurate with this set up. It's fun to shoot, and I have found it more rewarding to shoot it this way than with just the irons. My gf and I like to shoot at orange clays we stick into the berms at various distances on the rifle range. With the irons I could hit the clays no problem. With the scope on there you can break the clays up piece-by-piece from the top down, and pick-off the fragments when your done. I like it.

Any rifle scope you use on Swiss is going to have to be high. The only other thing you could do is pull off the iron sights (and totally mangle the gun) or buy the completely flat-top version. The set-up I have is pretty much as low as you can get without removing the rear sight (other than a forward-mounted co-witness-type set up, like I show on my AR, but that obviously would not work with a magnification scope like an ACOG).

I put this together with a pic from the SAN website. I don't know what kind of scope they are using, but if that was a 3x24 ACOG Compact, I don't think it would be far back enough to avoid getting shadows. They have the riser on their stock, maybe not a bad idea.

With the Swiss Arms family, you definitely need the cheek piece to get a proper sight picture when using mounted optics...
I use the cheek piece on my carbine with the Elcan Specter and with a 4-14X on my Black Special.
 
Definitions required

Hope you don't mind if I interject with a twist on this thread. I've been hunting for 45 yrs but never had any interst in these funny looking firearms.

What do you mean by red, green, black, firearms?
 
Black is most often the colour of these types of Firearms.
Black and Green can also refer to the colour of the plastic bits on the Rifles.

Red refers to 'Russian' Arms. or 'Commie' Guns

I thought there must be more to it than just the colour. We don't refer to shotguns and deer rifles by the colour.
