.308 Win (DCRA & FN's)
.30-06 Spfg (Best GP round up north)
9mm Parabellum/Luger (CF Browning Hi power)
.30 Special (RCMP S&W M10)
.30-30 (For sure, again!)

If more, I'd add 6.5x55 Swede, 7.62x39 and .45 Auto. (WWII 1911's) mostly used by the govt made them a standard.

The 243 is really popular with deer hunters out here and the 338 win mag with elk hunters. I dont use either myself.

I forgot that CT also carries Federal 180g 300 Savage as well.

True. However I did specifiy hunting calbires only.

In any case, we are all guessing and going with local factors that affect us anyway.

A new thread? I was thinking along similar lines and contacted Seabass to that effect. I did so because I didn't want to steal his thunder and high jack the thread with one very similar while his was still getting active posts.

Go for it, ie: "Your Personal Top 10 Canadian Big Game Hunting Calibers"?? Something along thay line was what I had in mind:).

No .303?? I found that hard to beleive..

My bad... there were a couple 303's, one in a Ross and my Grampa's No.1 but only the Ross was seeing active use.

I guess you could add another Ross to my early list too.
I likely missed some others too.:redface:
