The bubba'ing of real deal original Colt [and other maker] USGI 1911A1's was quite common back in the day.
Before the nostalgia craze of 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Band of Brothers' started the steep rise in the price and general collectibility of USGI 1911's you could buy a nice example in the area of $250. Hence, so many getting the bubba target jobs.

I bought it out of Edmonton, I was told that an old timer had it tucked away and I guess when he past on, the widow or his family brought it into the shop with some other stuff to sell.
I took it into Proline in Calgary to show the fellas, looking through their reference material, Remington made a run of these during the WW1 as replacements. They rushed the finishing process, so most or all of the guns' finish flakes off, giving them the "patchy" look. The E.L.L. stamp (seen in the second pic) was from the inspector, I think the book said it was a Colt rep or a Gov't rep that inspected the batch for QA before it was sent out for distribution. The cool thing was this gun didn't go thru the US armory (I don't think) and become a mis-match patch work piece. All the parts with numbers are matching.

ummm could just be me but i wouldnt be giving a young girl like that a cocked 1911 and let her have her finger on the trigger...especially in my kitchen hahah but could just be me

It was $1400.00 US no tax
add the exchange rate to Canadian dollars (about 118.00) then add the GST and PST to that (about 195.00) , and $100.00 US to have all the paper work done by the store, other than a short term ATT, which took all of 10 minutes on the phone with the CFO for me to do, and a short drive to the US, (25.00 in gas CDN)
Roughly $1830.00 Canadian
And a great lunch at the Anchor Bar, the wings are the best......
