What do you think?

shot one a few years back, heart was pulped, just a mush of ribbons. 7mmRM 175grn, deer still ran off down a hill about 100m before it piled up under a big spruce tree, real bugger to find, poor blood trail without the heart pumping blood. :D

Guess I should have used a bigger gun perhaps my 300WM with 200grn Accubonds will do better.

but I guess I'll stick to my 25-06 for deer, 110grn Accubonds work just fine. :D

Well opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one and everyone with a keyboard and internet access, can spread theirs around for sure.

Disgusting. With a rifle of that caliber, the deer should be down quickly. If you can't bring them down with one good shot then hang up your guns. I can't stand the thought of a wounded animal running around suffering. My friend uses a 25-06 and they drop like a rock.

Makes me rethink using "cheap" 130 grain .270 in future.

That whitetail last season must have died from shock (from the audacity of me using such a crappy round), rather than the massive hole in it's chest cavity.

Makes me wonder how he knows all those ones he shot and ran away are still running around. Sounds like a poor shot and a worse tracker. He needs a 50 cal.

I'll go the other way as a 270 hater.

I've shot and killed (or my son with me beside him and tracking, sometimes too much of that for my taste) 6 deer and a bear with 270 with 130 gr bullets and I agree with the poster. I think it`s the most overrated cartridge going.

Is the guy wrong to prefer 150 gr bullets over 130`s...are guys wrong for using 180 bullets in their 30-06`s vs 150``s.

I think it`s kind of silly to start a thread like this with a copy and paste form another website with no rest of the thread to see how the conversation acutally went down.

If you want to see the rest of the thread, check out huntinfo.com forums under the deer hunting section, the thread titled ammo opinion.Personally the two posts are more than enough to convince me that the poster has no clue.

True enough, the posts were pretty stupid.

I still hate the 270 though.

"Many that I shot but missed the heart were wounded but still out there runin around today"

someone take his rifle away

You're all forgetting, this fellow is talking about the new breed of Titanium Magnum Deer. If you're not burning 70+ grains of powder, good luck. I'd recommend bullets at least 1 grain, per pound of expected animal weight. Anything less than a red mist with antlers, would be a classic bullet failure.
