.22 Browning or Ruger?

I've got the MKIII, but I don't think you'll go wrong either way. I've not heard much bad about either one, and I believe the Ultimate Clip Loader works for both pistols (Highly recommended, if you can find it). Good choices either way, pick the one for less $$$, or just the one you like the looks of better.
 
Ruger vs Browning

Both great.

I prefer the Rugers myself.

Have both a MkII 5.5" bull barrel & MkIII 22/45 4.5" slabside.

A dedicated .22 pistol will get you out to the range more.

More shooting = more fun. :cool:

Not sure about aftermarket but the Ruger has that funky link up inside that it takes some time to learn to engage when re-assembling after a full strip down.

I know this is more a personal thing but having shot both I'd take the Buckmark over the Ruger any day. I just liked the look and feel of it more. But both are great shooters so it's really down to the small things.

FWIW I'd suggest if you opt for the Ruger that you get the 22/45 version just so the grip angle is more in keeping with most of the center fire semis you'll own. But if you're a Luger owning fan then the standard grip would be just fine. Otherwise the angle is a bit funky if you're switching back and forth often.
 
My Ruger 22/45 Mk.III is great. I looked at the Buckmark when I was shopping around and I just liked the Ruger better. You probably wouldn't go wrong with either, just handle them both and choose whichever feels more comfortable to you. Rugers have a reputation for being really difficult to disassemble, but it gets much easier with time. They'll also shoot perfectly fine even when they're filthy, so you don't need to take them apart for cleaning all that often anyway.
 
good info thanks all, Thats what I want to here.. even if it's just a little thing. Over the years I have bought & sold tons of guns because they turned out to be s**t or didn't like the way they handled. I'm trying to stop this buying & selling game and just find the right guns for my needs. looking for a .22 plinker and it's down too 3 models. Browning, Ruger, or a 1911.22 upper kit. So if there is any other issues or problem just chime in.

Here is an idea, I have shot a glock before and tons of guys swear by glock.. But I can't stand the frame twist / side torque I get when shooting a glock. some can't feel it but I can. or the springing feeling from recoil on the Ruger P85 / P90 models.
 
Browning Buckmark

I have owned a Browning Buckmark for 16 years now. I have had no regrets.
I also had to decide between the Ruger and the Browning as I had shot both.
I picked the Buckmark because it just looks nicer and has a great feel to it. Really fun to shoot with an awesome single-action trigger. Also feeds different types of ammo brands.

My 2 cents.
 
I've owned both; both work well and are I have nothing bad to say about either.

I think the Browning is a better looking and feeling pistol and it's my choice.

Don't forget about S&W 41 or the older 422/622 models great .22 pistols.

I just got rid of a Ruger MK I... first can't find extra magazines and second MK I's are a PITA to field strip, not sure about the MK II & III's on the field strippng part.
 
I had to choose between the two a year or two ago as well.
I decided on the Buckmark and couldn't be happier. I just like the grip better.
 
Like many of the other guys posting, I have owned both. And while they are both fantastic guns (and you really can't go wrong with either), I do prefer the Buck Mark and it is now the only .22 pistol that I own. I have the Camper with hi-viz fiber optic front sight and wood grips. I wouldn't trade it for any .22 pistol that I can think of.

For me, the ergonomics are better and I just fine it to be a better overall value than the Ruger. But that's just me, YMMV.
 
Tried both and settled on the Buckmark Camper model. I liked the looks and feel of it better than the Mark III. The one downside is that the Camper comes with only one mag, while the Mark III comes with two.

If you can, try 'em both and go with the one you like the best.
