So I just picked up my second Enfield. A No1 mkIII from Wolverine. I could get some better pics. It was a good price and it will look good with my Mo4 MkI on the shop wall.

The mag matches the serial on the action. What else should I look for. The price was right so anything else is a bonus.

I should take a few more shots as it is a nice looking rifle. I need to buy a few more of these Enfields.
:Edit: Fixed spelling of word Enfield as per instructions.

Nice, I am a No.4 Man myself but I like that and I have a few No.1's, both Bubba's. I am restoring one of them, a freebie from my Uncle, a 1917 BSA that was refurbed at Lithgow.

Nice, looks to be in good condition. May I inquire as to how much you snagged it for? I picked up one myself that was a * mark, that had been not refurbished, but has odd arsenal stampings every 4-6 years under the original manufacture date, all with the royal crown
Dates are "1917 (manufacture), 1922, 1928, 1934, 1938"
All stamped in a column under the main "made in"

? disk and mag cut off? what are those?

The Stock disc is a little brass ID disk that fits in the little hole on the right of the butt. The mag cut off is just like it sounds, its a little plate that cuts off the feed of the magazine, it was discontinued half way through WWI.

The stock disc could be easily made with some brass rod and a lath, unless you want an authentic one. If you make it yourself, you could put your Initials or whatever on it just for fun.

This must be the German version of the Enfield rifle, known as the Einfield! :p :D

it's called

ENFIELD

For Heaven's Sake Man !!!!

Sorry, spelled it wrong twice and I know better, I will fix.

The No1's are my favorite. All you need is the stock disc and the mag cut-off...
It looks like it had a stock disk at one time and then it was removed and filled.

Are both ears broken on the front hand guard or just the one side?

Both are broken, looks like a field repair, not sure.

Save yourself a lot of time and get a Pattern 14 or P17. :D

My Dad has a P17 that has been sportered, I would love to restore it. I think My next purchase will be a No5 Mk1, but I want the P14, P17 as well.

That's an Indian innovation, Cut the ears off of the front hand guard. Makes for an easier install or FTR.

Install what and what is an FTR?

I let some bore cleaner sit in it last night and scrubbed and patched it this morning and it is very, very shiny and clean with strong rifling. It was dirty, but looked more like it was sitting somewhere for 50 years dirty, like dust and dirt collected in the barrel and had not been shot forever. I need to get it to the range to see how it shoots.

The front sight pin is not centered, how is the best way to adjust it. unlike the No4 Mk1 I can not see a way to punch it. Its covered up.

So I took it out and fired a few rounds through it. Sights were bang on, so I guess I don't need to play with them after all. I am using handloaded 174g FMJ with 4320. The shots that I took at 50 yards would touch (sub 1") when I shot off a bag. Standing they were all within 5 inches. I need to take it out to 100 and see now. I found that it was very pleasant to shoot, even more so than the No4's that I have had a lot more experience with. Recoil seemed a little less even as it is very nicely balanced. Seems like with the No4 if I am not careful my thumb smacks my nose due to recoil. Didn't have this problem last night with the No1. May just be more aware though. I still prefer the peep sights on the No4 but the regular irons on the No1 are ok too.
