My buddy just sold me this unfired shotgun which will ride in my jeep and jet boat as well as the ATV when camping. I added a second side saddle so I can carry slugs and different buckshot loads. I like the idea of free pockets. My buddy thinks this is overboard lol I think its a good bug out package lol !!!

I am in the market for a shotgun just like that. Short, pump action, conventional buttstock, practical and compact. What make and model is your shotty, is it a grizz? Also are those ghost rings on it too? Was thinking of going with a short barrelled Remington 870P, what made you decide on your particular model.

Cheap well made beater compact and functional will digest all sorts of rounds from single projectiles to light and heavy shot at closer ranges. Power of the slug is amazing when I was younger I put a slug through a deers skull and it looked like a soft ball went through it. The only thing keeping the skull (or what was left ) togeather was the skin. I requalify our staff on a weapon just like this and have used it numerious times and I can say first hand that if you are facing multiple challenges this is an attention graber and because of its dispersion a real crowd pleaser lol !!! 12.5" Grizz with ghost ring sights for slugs, what do you think on how she rides in the boat?? tucked in and out of the way yet readly available if needed to be called upon, you know pirates and such, wild critters, big cats bears Zombies lol.

Very nice! I like it. Do you worry about debris down the barrel? I have almost the same set up in a rem 870 with the velcro side saddles and a single point sling.

No not worried you can cork it if you want but don't forget the lil bastard or you will really be surprized lol. No not worried. Mostly rain if anything but equipment check all the time buddy, 7 point safety check 5 point safety check stay focused and sharp head out of the dark place and all is well.

If your going to poss use the gun where its going to be wet, a few things i think you must have.
Houge rubber overmolded stock set.
Single point sling mount and sling.
The stocks on the grizz and very slippy so u really should change them.
As for the sling mount and sling. if you evey have to use the gun you could go in the water, with a single point mount and sling the gun will stay with you no matter what.
Other things would be an over sized safety button incase you have gloves on.
Now before you all jump on me for posting this, as i do sell all these parts, i think that anyone that is going to keep a gun on a boat needs these upgrades.

I've never seen a "jet boat" with an outboard on it before!:D
It is a Yamaha package G3 Yamaha 4 Stroke 90 but 65 at the pump you loose about 30% because of the jet drive. The boat has a tunnel under it so the motor sits higher than the bottom of the transome trailing edge.
I saw a military boat that was simular and they used it to assault a river bank and i though the river where I Moose hunt is shallow and being flat bottom I could run it in shallow water shoot the Moose on the river bank nose the boat up to the bank and roll the Moose onto the forward deck. This outfit works extreamly well and is a hoot to boot!!! I love assaulting my Moose hunting river lol !!! The jet is not to bad on fuel but it is a jet but you know if i was worried about spending money on fuel I would just vegitate at home and get sloppy, lol. You can check these boats out at River Venture in Chilliwack tell Bob Jack sent you.

Thanks for the info but its a beater and to get around the slippery stuff, I just slam skate boarder tape on it. Just like it was operational. I do that to my pistols and other arms. I dont plan on wading in anything so the tactical sling is out, the sling thats on it works just fine there are some tricks of the trade you can do with a regular sling and if i use whats already on it weather im in water or not she comes with me just fine the safety is fine and doable the way it is. You can dress anything up to the point of it being to much. I started hunting ducks at age 7 now am 60 and all my shotguns got wet with the furnature they had in real diverse weather all funtioned well, the items you listed are nice but not a must. Skate board tape is awsome on pistols rifles shotguns.
Boat decking too. Thanks for you suggestions, they are good and some are valid but its workable the way she is.I spent so much on my other tactical shotguns to the point they were overdressed. This one will be a working model the way she came except for the side saddles.
Cheers
Jack

If I understand you right..there is no prop on the engine but a "jet" like a jet ski? Pretty cool rig.

Have you ever heard of these guys http://www.beavertailfounders.com/motors.html

I had a chance to look over their 40 horse surface drive at SHOT. It's built like a tank yet because it's aluminum (the final drive case and frame)..not heavy.
The rep told me they are working on a new design for the final drive and when it's complete..you will be able to get anything from a 9 horse up to 100.
