what kind of cost did you incure for all the importation? nice gun though.
It ain't over yet. I am estimating approx. $350 US FFL fees, plus my cost of picking it up, ie. driving or Westjet, to just south of Langley BC from here in Cowtown.
I wouldn't be doing this if I could find any other original Krag here in this country. Don't think I have even actually seen more than one in 30 years. So yes, I really wanted it.

And this is a small illustration of what our retail stores have to go through on a daily basis, and why we pay, in most case, a lot more than US retail for any firearm newly imported into Canada.

I didnt steal it....honest
Do I know you or are you just screwing with me?....yes, it is an ex-BATUS wagon....but how do you know that????

All those range target hulls that got painted orange/red so they were easy for the tankers, and gunners to see :p on the range.

Its interesting to see some of the strays ;) didn't end up lost on the range, now that they are looking at cleaning up all that range scrap. ever see what they look like after being pounded by 105 tank and arty rounds as well as 155 arty and 81mm morters. Got a few photos with captions on them like " ?? APC " or " ?? truck "

Just got a really nice Belgian Mauser M1889/16 carbine from Accuracy Plus in Peteborough - it's on beautiful shape, and as a bonus it's one of the ones made in Birmingham while much of Belgium was occupied during WW1.

1860 LA Co. Snider sporter
Originally a 3 bander cut down(not by me, done along time ago), initials carved in the butt plate, Good bore.
Too bad, No restore job here, just a sporter and an antique.... so I cleaned it up a bit.

That has to be a very rare find? Any idea on production numbers?

I believe there were about 275,000 Belgian 1889s made, though I'm not clear if that's the rifles or all types. I have no idea how many were made in Birmingham, but it's certainly a rarer variation.

Belgian military Mausers of all types are very rare, even for the number made. This and one M89/36 rifle are all that I've ever seen in Canada, and that's after many years of actively looking. I find them really neat, they're the least Mauser-like Mauser I've ever seen. I'm still very much looking for an 1889 rifle, and any other Belgian military model I can find.

There's a story that during WW2 the Nazi's loaded most of them onto a train to be catalogued and re-issued, but the train was bombed. I don't know if its true, but it would explain it anyways.

k 31

finished cleaning up this little beauty:

Swiss K 31, manufactured in 1936 and issued to the Kripo in Luzern.

This rifle is in like new condition with a barrel measuring 7.51mm.

Came with the Bayo and Sling (can't figure out how to put the sling back on).

Didn't shoot it yet, but should be a blast....
