Newly arrived M14s Norinco or Poly?

A fellow CGNer tacticalII is kind enough taking time to post new pics of his M14s on this thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371080 and somehow several memeber noticed that the marking on the left side of the receiver has "Poly Inc" written on it.

While almost most dealers listed this batch of the M14s as Norinco so are these made by Norinco or Poly Tech?

I know many said that Norinco is a just exporter in China and the 2007 batch were all made with 93 to 94 vintage receivers and left over parts but what about the current batch?

Anybody has any idea who made them and are they newly manufactured or same as the 2007 batch that made with left over parts?:confused:
 
Not sure about the current batch but apparently those Poly Tech M14s imported into the States before the ban seems highly sought after and appears to be better quality than Norinco according to H2O Man's (a member here as well) post here:http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=23709

Poly and Norinco are both factories.. Poly was set up to compete with Norinco (I thought it was sorta like a pontiac/chevy thing) But it's not.. CAI buys parts from both companies and puts there on them...

Sounds more like it (well wiki says so!) hehe. Is there anyone who knows about Poly? I am curious...

It is possible because after Clinton banned all Chinese gun importation in 1994 our friends South of the border never get a chance to see / own any newer Norinco made M14s (at least legally) to compare with and that might be it plus I remember many fellow CGNers said the quality on the 2007 batch is way ahead and better than those earlier models,right?
 
Poly Technologies Inc. is a Beijing based firm. Poly has offered a wide variety of firearm, ammunition and assessories manufactured at factories scattered throughout China. Poly has been manufacturing the M14 Semi-automatic rifle for decades out of factory no. 356 in in Kun Ming (southern China) (amongst a few other small arm designs).

The receivers (up until 1989) milled from ingots of ordnance steel and are reputed to be of very good quality & manufacturing standards.

Back then they actually used walnut stocks of good quality (not like the bananna wood stocks we've become used to from Norinco). I'm not suprised they've decided to go with what appear to be injected molded stocks though considering most of us seem to replace with USGI fibreglass anyways. They've obviously been watching our forums to see what our preferred modifications are. The bores and chambers should be chrome plated.

While these rifles are made as close to mil. spec tolerances (ie. trigger groups should swap out with USGI) the guns have not been entirely interchangeable. Screw threads (with the exception of the barrel) are metric.

Most of the Poly M-14S I've observed came from China with a bayonette lug on the flash hider. I'm suprised to see that it is missing now.

I'm not sure if Norinco copied Poly or if the opposite is true. I suspect Norinco copied Poly or perhaps absorbed the firm into their hive collective. I'd be very interested to see what the rockwell hardness factor is for these Poly receivers. I'm not entirely sure Poly Technologies Inc. even exists anymore as a manufacturing entity or if Norinco ate it up. Perhaps its time to see what google can find on them?
 
OK ALREADY; The recent batch of M14s is very difefrent than the ones we brought in....
They salvaged full auto guns (Also Chinese) , strip them down, then using new receivers reassembled them, caming up with "brand new guns"....

BEAR 23; how do you come upon this information enabling you to make all of these well founded declarations ?? I wsih people would find out the facts before making such pronouncements....

Hey, I was just kidding here. Besides, John from Marstar always demands well researched responses. Well, this is not a official scientific publication or officially sanctioned news website, this CGN forum. There is always a lot speculation going on so I just take all posts with a lot of salt mixed in. John, however, is a well informed guy and I don't add any salt to his own posts. He isn't just a sales guy, he is an expert who doesn't just give you crappy info just to sell you something.
