New rifles that shoot shorts?

....I was under the strong impression that the Henry was S/L/LR.

Thanks for the back-up!

I have a Winnie 9422 and will have to try that out. Still, my question would have to be "why?". I just buy a whack of my fave CCI minimags and go for it. It never occurred to me to shoot something shorter or less powerful.... I too have the Lefty bug. I will have to see if my leftie CZ452 will shoot them too. MMM Henry yum. Might have to get one of those. Seems the old lady likes levers.

My bad I guess the new ones are LR L S. I know of a guy that has an older model that can't cycle anything but LR's so I was going by what he told me. Though you think a Henry has a smooth action you should check out an Ithaca. Mine is slicker then Greased Goose SH!T. I've worked a Henry's action and then my Ithaca's action and my Ithaca put the Henry to shame though the Henry's are still pretty slick. Wouldn't trade my Ithaca away for anything though I might have to get a Henry so I can shoot more then just LR as I have a box of L I want to shoot :D

Shorts are quieter, doing some dispatch work with out the neighbours knowing. Or to use on your trap line having an animal caught in a foot hold and putting it to sleep forever with less mess and damage. Are a couple of reasons why people still like shorts.

Hey Cyclone thanks for the tip on the Henry. Thats definately on my shopping list along with the Snakeslayer I've ordered. I guess I best tell the wife my intentions. But they all cost $50.00 right.

Allstone gets the credit for the tip , but you're very welcome all the same :). And, as one (paraphrased) sardonic sig-line on CGN says: I hope my wife never sells my firearms for what I said I paid for 'em...:p

Personally, I would save up my pennies and buy a Marlin 39A or a Remington 572 over the Henry. The Henry has a too many zinc and plastic parts for my liking.

Excellent suggestions tjhaile. I own both of these. You just can't beat wood and steel. These are reliable, solidly built man sized guns, and very accurate.

I also like my older bolt action Brno's (and even my Cooeys).

the marlin 981t shoots them all. its a tube mag bolt action. not really too pricey, something like 200 before taxes and is still in production.

Actually I'm hunting a piece of land that abuts CLOCA conservation area on two sides of the land. Its a bow only area for deer, try not to scare people while small game hunting.

Can anyone tell me what is out there for new 22's that still shoot 22 short, long, long rifle. I see browning has a lever but 550.00$ is a little steep I'm looking for something around or under 400. Seems like there's not many options. Any help is appreciated.

I also have the Browning lever .22 that you speak of and highly highly recommend it as a tube feed, longer times without reloading and ease of reloading tube and the accuracy is amazning not to mention a very light touch 30 degree lever action means flipping out the old and in with the new bullet with a flick of a pinky while never taking ur eye off the prize. I also love about this lever is that the trigger and trigger guard come with you as one so you dont have to worry about pinching fingers when bringing the lever back in.
Granted I won the guun in a raffle so i didnt have to justify the costs at all but it gets a 10 in my books. I'll never own another 22 as long as i live.

i have the "lego" of .22 [10/22] and a 522 rem speedmaster. and althought the speedmaster will consume S/L/LR i havent even shot anything but lr outta the speedmaster. just never tried or bought them.
