Hunting boot recommendations

I bought a pair of Rockys from Cdn Tire a couple years ago. Not the most expensive in the world but waterproof (although the blood did stain) and really warm. Damn fine investment IMO.

I have a pair of those too because of the Danner sizing snafu that had me returning 2 separate pairs to Cabelas. I ran out of time prior to my hunting trip and did not want to go with only one pair so I stopped by CTC and picked up the Rocky's. They aren't bad at all.

I have Danner Frontier with 800 gr thinsulate and they have been used form Sept for archery season and all the way through till the end of rifle season in Dec. They also fit really well in my snowshoes for shed hunting after Christmas. I have tried other boots but these are by far the best I've had.

x3 Best boots I've owned. I have been fortunate enough to have owned a few other European boots and these are as close to perfection, for my feet, as it gets.

Chuck,

What leather waterproofing / treatment are you using?

David

Obenauff's Heavy Duty LP. Far and away the best boot treatment I've used.

Thank you all for taking to the time to respond. I've decided to go with the Irish Setter Tamarack with 800 g which I guess I'll get to try out this Hunting Season and see how they work. Thanks again for all the advice.

I really like the Irish Setter Elk Trackers.

Yes Sir! Those are the best boot available in my experience. Great for long walks, and okay for sitting if not too cold outside. If I am going to sit after walking a long way in the cold, I take a pair of over booties in my back pack and slip them on once in my stand. They add a lot of warmth and are light to carry, work great!

I've had a pair of Rocky's for the last few years... light, waterproof and warm (but not too warm ;)).
I've heard great things about Danner's, and saw a program on Wild TV about them last year. It showed how they put in the Gortex booty and went on and on about how every pair was made in the US, and how this made them a better product.
Well, a buddy of mine bought some Danner's at Bass Pro last fall, and, you guessed it... made in China.
I was dissapointed to say the least.
That said, he does still like them.
Personally, if I were buying a pair today, I would get the Irish Setter's that are on sale at Bass Pro for $100.

Which danner model? I have black leather ones. Do they make a hunting boot?
