Shooting Lead Rounds through Para 45

just got a new Para LTC in 45...

Took it to the range and shot some lead bullets through it.

Put ~200 rounds through it...

They were all over the map...

POI kept constantly changing (literally from clip to clip)...

I shot the lead bullets through my other 45s with no problems.

and the sights seem to be sturty in place (the from is fixed, the back is secured).

Any ideas why ???

If it were mine, I'd try 2-3 other loads in it. Different bullets, maybe some factory stuff.

If it shoots better with a different loading, it means your Para just don't like that load/bullet you tried first. It happens.

If your pistol shoots poorly with several different loads, the problem may lie in the pistol and not the ammo.

I agree with jh. Try a whole bunch of other bullets to determine its not the gun first. I shoot 200 grn. lead SWC which I mold (and tumble lube). My Para P-14 45 shoots these with no FTL, FTE, FTF issues. Accuracy is excellent.

No reason why not.

Bores of the same caliber can vary from gun to gun. It could be the bore on your Para is a tad larger than others, which would cause a big drop in accuracy.
 
No problems with lead through a Para. My buddy's Limited doesn't like to feed the LSWC's but other than that go for it.

Sounds like a typical new 1911. Shoot it some more and then start testing for accuracy. It will get better as the parts wear into each other.

Could be the load, too. Also, don't forget, it's a new gun. You're not 100% used to it yet. :)
 
Also no problems with lead through a Para SSP. No issues feeding and shooting 200g semi wadcutters, although not with the factory mags. They were pushing too hard and I got weird double feeds. I switched to CMC Power mags and haven't looked back :)
 
As long as you keep the bullet velocity below 300m/sec you shouldn't have a problem. If you're shooting high velocity lead bullets, the barrel will become coated with lead that has soldered itself in, and is a pain to clean out. That will affect POI. My guess (and it's only that) is that there is some kind of difference between your barrel dimensions and bullet dimensions, caused by leading or the original specs. You should be able to find lead bullets that will shoot very accurately, but you probably are going to have to do some preliminary measurement to make sure things match up.
