Hey, GLOCksters;

Mind sharing some pointers, opinions, reviews, etc., on a Glock 34? I'm getting it next week specifically for IDPA shooting on a friend's suggestion. Accuracy, reliability should be there according to everything I've read about it so far. More indepth input would be appreciated, like how is the trigger pull, can it be adjusted, does it like particular ammo, etc., etc.

Thanks,

I was looking at one as well...then I shot my friend's G34 and I have to say I didn't really like it. I think it is because I shoot the G19, so the G17 and G34 seem too big and bulky to me.

I have one. Very accurate, never a problem. I've only ever shot PPU in it. You can change the trigger connecter but I like it the way it is. They extended controls are very nice. I liked it enough I bought a 19 but it's not as accurate.

I have the Glock 17, 22, and a 35. I just purchased a Storm lake conversion barrel in 9mm for the Glock 35, and shot it today for the first time. I'm really impressed! Very accurate, just drops in and all you need to change is the ejector pin from the 40cal to a 9mm one, and use 9mm mags. That way you have a 40cal Glock and a 9mm to shoot in IDPA and IPSC if you want too.

I like the 34/35 models because of the longer sight radius, and if you like the grip you're good to go right out of the box darn near. I also put on a set of Dawson Precision sights, fiber front and large black rear, skate board tape on the grip, and off to the races. Parts are easy to change, and get, if something should break, which is not very often, and inexpensive.

All and all the Glock is a great pistol to start with. At least until you get bit with the other gun bugs, CZ Shadow, STI's, and other assorted 1911's!

Have fun, buy lots of ammo, dry practice lots, and shoot/practice lots! http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/new/rockOn.gif:rockOn:

I got one, acctuallyit was my first gun.
It is acurate, shoot flawlessly, eats reloads and factory without a problem.
Before i started reloading heard that it is picky with reloads but that was not the case.I haven,t touch anything on it,planing to shoot IPSC production with it.

Unfortunately, the Glock 34 is too long for IPSC Production in Canada, but it is allowed by USPSA in the United States.

I had a 34, great gun, balanced in my hand better than the Glock 17 for me. Because we can't use it here in Production, I sold it but the GLock 17 is not as easy to shoot for me so I use the CZ Shadow or 85 C instead.

I just did the course for IDPA. It's all about concealment, safety and hitting the right target at the right time.
I am seriously thinking of having the sights removed from my Glock 19 and see what I can do.

I have come full circle back to a Glock and it is the G34. It is simply the nicest gun I have ever had to shoot. I find it so well balanced and out of this world accuracy. You will love it.

I agree totally, the longer Glocks balance much better for me than the shorter ones and both Glock 34 and 35 have great accuracy.

I have a GLOCK 34,, and I got it before I had any intention of doing IPSC. Anyway, the only thing about the pistol I didn't like was the grip. It seemed a little too thin near the top and it felt like it may twist in my hand when fired.

I ended up putting a MagLoc Grip adaptor on it, and a MagLoc mag well and a HiViz fiber optic front site on it, some grip tape, and now it is a dream.

Used it in Standard Division for one match and did quite well with it considering I was being scored minor.

What I really like about the GLOCK is that I can do mag changes faster than any other pistol I have,, and the mags are just about bullet proof, easy to find and cheap (dollar wise).

For the longest time the Glock Model 34 was the only pistol I owned... Still the most used & ugliest one I own. Fits great, accurate enough & chokes back & ejects any round put through it so far. The biggest valid complaint that I've heard, is the ergonomics of the Glocks. Doesn't fit everyone; but most know that the minute they pick one up & look at something else. My 'little' pev with the 34 is that under some circumstances I find the sights to coarse. But this can be easily remedied with a pair of aftermarket sights of your choice. Good pistol overall with a ton of cheap hop ups, if you want, but don't really need.

Thanks for your input, everybody. Got my G34 today. Have to admit, it really feels nice in the hand and the trigger feels awsome dry firing. Will take it to the range probably tomorrow, and, if everything is OK and I get used to it fast, will shoot a CDP match with it on Thursday. Will let you know.

Now, a question for everybody - how do you adjust that adjustable rear sight on G34? Which of the two screws on the right of the sight is windage and which elevation? And where do you turn both to move the point of impact, let's say, to the left and up - clockwise or counterclockwise? i was a bit surprised that the manual has no information about it and the little screwdriver for sight adjustment was not in the package - bought it NIB, mind you. Help appreciated.

Granted, I'm pretty new to IDPA, but I don't think you can shoot CDP with a 9mm. ;)
