Is there a place to buy bulk .22LR ammo instead of just buying box after box or brick after brick? I'm looking at dropping say $100-$200 down for ammo and want to get the most for the money... not to mention the local stores only bring in two bricks of ammo at a time with a month or two between when they restock. I like bulk prices! I'm a cheap Taurus! :D

You could try Cabela's.ca or WSS online.... they have pricing for case lots of brick ammo (if they have stock is another story). A case of bricks is 10 bricks. So a case of American Eagle .38gr is 4000 rnds.

I solve this problem by buttering up to the guys at the local g-store...... when they get in .22 ammo (usually 5 to 10 cases at a time) they usually set aside a case for me.

Now if I could just figgure out where to find CCI Blaser by the case.......

Cheers!

I always just pop into Cabela's, and grab a case of Federal 525 bulk paks. They shoot well in all my guns. They don't seem to give a discount for buying a case, but still having 5250 rounds for $219.90+tax is pretty decent. Rimfire ammo, is one of the only things Cabela's does better the WSS in Winnipeg. The nice thing is, they usually have it on the shelves, so you don't need to bother the busy folks at the gun counter

If you can still get the federal bulk paks for under 22 bucks that not bad.
I just checked the price at one store and they want $32.99 a brick:eek:

$100 doesn't get you very much 22 ammo anymore. It's like prices from 20 years ago.

FYI - 20 years ago 22 ammo was around $20 a brick, so even with the "high" prices we have today, it is still a bargain, and the prices a couple years ago were really a steal.

wait till Canadian Tire has a sale and load up.

I dont see ammo listed in their flyers any more but in the store it will be on sale once in a while. Last month they had American Eagle on for just under $20 a brick. It went fast.

You can also check out Walmart.

Yesterday, Cabela's had a big display for $21.99. I'm already stocked for the rest of the year, prices should return to sane levels before I need to buy more.

Make sure you buy lots.I switched over to mostly shooting 22 to cut down on cost but you know i think i am spending more because i have 2 tacticool 10/22s and about 10 25 rnd mags.i easily load the mags up twice per outing.
This thread is making me want to go out and buy some more ammo.:)

Sometimes i wish i lived close to those big stores so i wouldnt have to pay shipping.:(

Why do people keep thinking that I live in a town? :D

CT is a 3 hour round trip and that's the store I was talking about that ONLY brings in two bricks of ammo at a time and then I have to wait a month for them to restock it.

Walmart is a 5-6 hour return trip and and in the past 5 months I have yet to see them stock rimfire ammo, always out of stock.

Old joe up in the mountains there, he's got cheap 22's for sale. Just start wandering in the trees I'm sure you'll find him.

If the local co-op had cheap ammo, I'm sure you'd know better than most of us. Given that 90-some percent of Canadians live in urban centres, the big stores in cities are all we know, so asking us where to find cheap ammo in the sticks is like asking a dog how to drive a car, we just don't know.

There is no co-op anywhere near here either.

Besides I was asking about places I can purchase online, guess I should have been more clear....

Does Cabela's Canada Ship ammo? I read somewhere that they have some.

I did a search of Cabelas Canada but all I could find were just bricks (for which they wanted more than in the stores I drive to and shipping isn't included) :D

Oh well I've got 1200 rounds left, I guess that will hold me for abit!

Speaking of going up in price.I paid $21.99 per box wich is not bad but there is another place selling it for $32.99:eek:

I hope you can recieve packages from UPS or Canpar where you are....... Canada Post will not let them ship ammo.

And there is the conundrum... see since I live way out in the middle of nowhere anything shipped by UPS goes as far as Prince George, then gets changed OVER to Canada Post because UPS doesn't deliver out here. SO would UPS just keep their trap shut or would it get stopped in Prince George? :D

Well If it's a local store, go chat with them get them to add a case to their order. Most places I talk to will order anything in for a customer. May require a deposit, or paying up front if you trust them. Aside from that, call up a place you go to when you are in a big city, and have them hold how much ammo you want when they get it in. Again probably a deposit, or a prepay thing. But since you live so far away from civilization don't see many other ways to do it, just make your trips to the city worth it :)
