Question to Lyman owners

I recently bought a Lyman trade rifle and I'm quite happy with it, but I have something that is bothering me.

This rifle came with two manuals, one by the manufacturer of the rifle Investarms and another by Lyman. And here's what's bothering me: the Lyman manual suggests loads that are 20 grs heavier than the loads suggested on Investarms manual. Which one should I believe?

I am sure I'm not the first person to ask this question, but I haven't really found an answer to it on the Internet, so I though I should try here. Thanks.
 
Maximum loads of black powder. No substitutes suggested for this flintlock model, but if they were volumes would be the same.
 
OK...you didn't specify it was a flintlock...yes real BP only.

As to the difference in the max charge weights, I have no idea...check around online, or fire off an email to Lyman customer service.

What are the actual charge weights they quote as max....110gr?

If you had to believe in a suggested load,I would have to say Investarm.
I have the great plain hunter by Lyman,and i have also the two manual's received with my BP rifle.
I would never go more than 110grs.The Lyman manual will not go more than 110 grs and that's for the round ball.For the sabot and the maxi they suggest 100 grs,we are talking 2fg powder.
For Investarm your right, just remove 20 grs from the above powder load.
Lyman will tell you that they suggest a certain black powder make,so i figure they tested and came up with there own grs for that make of rifle.
I load Goex and triple 7 black powder.My measure is set at 90 grs.They say that less is best for accuracy.
The triple7 will give a bigger kick than the goex powder,Its 90 grs Round ball for me, and 80 grs for sabot and maxi.My grouping is good and I'm sure it will take a deer at 100 yard's or closer, for i don't hunt with scopes.
But on the other hand,Lyman would not put you in a danger zone with there Maximum Loads....at least i hope not. I would go with Investarm just to be on the safe side,only because they made the rifle.
I will be sending an e-mail to Investarm for that particular question.
