I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with these rifles? Are they worth the extra $$ over the CZ or the Ruger 77/17? Or should I keep saving for a Cooper?

Are there any issues with the Anschutz? I expect they are near perfect due to the reputatuion that Anschutz enjoys.

I recently purchased a 1517MPR from Clay at Prophet River Firearms (CGN Sponsor).

The rifle is certainly worth the money, first time out 5/8" five shot groups at 100 yards. I have adjusted the trigger weight & sear engagement after that first session & I am looking forward to trying this rifle again next Monday.

This is my 2nd Anschutz, the other is an MPR in .22lr which shoots very well indeed. The Anschutz come with everything done right, only some minor adjustments are needed, if desired.

I have owned both the Ruger 77/22 & CZ .22 cal rifles, though these are excellent brands they are both a long way from being an Anschutz.

I have not tried the Anschutz model 54 Action, I am afraid it would spoil me & make me want to sell the two model 64 actioned rifles that I am enjoying. :D

It would likely take a far better shooter than myself to realize a noticable improvement with the more costly Anschutz 54 series.

If those are the $999 ones, that is an incredible price, you will easily pay twice that by the time the Cooper is in your hands. Trust me, I speak from experience.
I may order an MPR just because, although much the same style as my LVT.

Just bought a 1517 D HB w/ the Beavertail stock. Nice rifle, and can't wait to shoot it. I have to say that Clay was excellent to deal with and gave me a great price on shipping (Free) and a discount on accessories. I'll deal with Prophet River again.

Here is my new Anschutz .17 HMR 1517 D HB w/ the Beavertail stock. Love this rifle! I took it out today for the first time in bad weather and shot 50 rounds of CCI 17 gr V-Max, just to zero my scope. I have never fired this rifle before and shot a four round 5/8" group @ 100 yds. I actually threw my fourth round when a guy shot off a .30 cal next to me and the real group should have been the smaller 7/16" group of three. I know once I get used to the rifle and break it in it will shoot at least 1/2" at 100 yds. It will be a gopher slaughter this spring. See pics.

$999 for a M64 is a great deal; the MPR's are usually several hundred more. As said in a previous post, CZ's and Ruger 77's are very good rimfires-excellent, in fact, however, IMHO, its hard to beat an annie. The Cooper looks nicer, perhaps, and it will shoot as well (or even better?) but is $700 more.
