I have been thinking about getting set up for predator hunting...on PEI that means fox and coyote. I was thinking about a .223...Anyone use .243 or is this too much gun?

Is 243 allowed on PEI? I thought the biggest caliber you could use was .22cal(centerfire or rimfire)
I'm basing that on the very bad memory I have.

Personally I'm choosing a .223 when I get around too it. That way when I get an AR in the distant future, I won't need many different calibers.

The .223 does a grand job on fox, coyote and such. Can be used on gophers and groundhogs as well. Very versatile in bullet weights so if pelts are the game, less damage . Also makes a cheap range shooter.

When I am specifically hunting coyotes I use either a T/C Contender carbine in 223, a Sako 85 Gray Wolf or an older tang safety Ruger M77 in 22-250 and a semi-production made in Germany Voerre action rifle chambered in 6mm-284...

When I am not specifically hunting coyotes I use what ever is in my hands... :D

Thanks for all the input...a friend mentioned to me about the restriction on size...looks like I might go with the .223...

I have a .223, I like it, good on coyotes and foxes. If I was to do it again, I'd buy a .22-250. Walmart and C-tire all carry .22-250 but no .223. A little easier to find ammo that way.

Man they have some retarded regs down there, Rick (ATRS) uses a 50BMG on yotes, pelt damage can be an issue cause it is hard to find all the pieces and a ##### to sew them back together:eek:

223 is a good chice IMO. Have 2 of them as well as 204, 22H, 25-06AI.
