See you there! I don't have a reliable load figured out for my enfields or the M-14 so I might just be watching and putting faces to CGN names.

LAME!! :D
That's what sighters are for. Each person will have around 10 - 15min. on each firing point to figure out where they are shooting. ;)
We'll have experienced persons in the butts indicating where you are hitting and guys on the line with spotting scopes to help as well.

That M-14 will be easy to load for: 41 to 42 grains of H or IMR 4895 and seat a 155 or 168 grainer on top at 2.800" for about 2500 to 2650fps and you'll be good to go. I'll bet breakfast that will shoot moa, and be a pussycat to shoot.

You and your rifle will need to shoot about 3moa to be really competitive - but it isn't about that. It's about getting a bunch of cool old bang sticks together and puttin' rounds down range...with a bunch of decent, like minded folks.:)

Is that 10-15 min with unlimited shots? I just replaced my rear sight with a NM peep and have no idea where it's shooting and I don't think I will have time to hit Olds for a sight in this weekend.

What's the best camp ground out there to book into. The wife and I will make a weekend out of it.

10-15 min is alot of time on the mound, especially when you have a target marker.

We are not going to leave anyone stranded without knowing where their rifle is shooting, but at the same time we want to limit the amount of shooting done at each range before the match, to keep things moving.

We'll get you on paper, walk you into the v-bull, and generally fire a group or two to confirm the zero.

Roger that.. Just having scoped spotters available will be a big help.

And hey.... working the butts if half of the fun.

I plan on being there as well. As another CGN'r asked: Is there a good campsite nearby? I'll be coming in from the Elkford BC area via the East slope of the Rockies.

UPDATE:

Looks like Bow Valley or Willow Rock are the only choices if you want to book a camp site somewhat near the range. I'm going to hitch up the trailer and try Sibbald Lake Friday morning.

mrd49, if you want, and sites are available I can snag a site for you at Sibbald. PM me if you are interested.

Sibbald Flats (Lake?) campground is close to the range but you can't pre-book a site.

I'm currently searching for an alternative. Will post my findings

Here is a map to the range http://www.albertarifle.com/Images-subs/Map.jpg

Any chance that self contained units can park at the range facility after 1200 Friday until Sunday 1200?

Will a Valmet Qualify for battle rifle

Absolutely!

Again it is any rifle, iron sights. I'm hoping we have a wide variety of iron to oogle.;)
It's about encouraging anyone in the Calgary area (and beyond) to come out, see what it is we do, how the range and our matches operate in a safe but relaxed atmosphere and have fun putting rounds down range.:)
