Approx. Cost of an FN49

That was my first rifle. Bought about 8 yeas ago. Cost $450 then, today the price will probably be between that and $600 depending on condition of course.

They are a hoot to shoot, very well made, and they feel great. Just make sure you have the two piece firing pin. I actually had a bent firing pin, and it would not fire quite a bit of my ammo, so I bought a new one, and lo and behold, she works like a charm now!

Hakim and FN-49 (both in 8mm Mauser)

FN49 8mm

Agree on the costs quoted thus far, and would also support how enjoyable they are to shoot.

I had my Egyptian 8mm out at the range again yesterday. Reaffirmed how happy I am with the rifle, though my shoulder wishes there was a little bit more at the butt end of the rifle than just a brass buttplate.

Further to making sure the one you get has the two-piece firing pin is to be careful with commercial ammo, according to the experts. Milsurp ammo preferred due to the harder primer which reduces the chance of out-of-batter slamfires.

Was wondering...what is the cost of one of these in "OK" condition? Also how are they to shoot?

what about the price of hakim? reason I ask is ive come across something in "7mm mauser, military" and semi auto so if it is military i would assume it is in 7.92mm so I just wanted to have an idea of what it was worth since it could be a number of things.

No reason to assume it's 8mm Mauser if it's adverstised as 7mm. FN49's were made in both 7x57 and 8x57, amongst other calibres.

And 7.65 Mauser for Argentina, which were later converted to 7.62 Nato.

Trials rifles were also built in 6.5x55, 7.5x54 and 7.62x51.

The Venezuelan ones in 7 x 57 have a very nice muzzle brake and in my opinion just look better than the 8mm ones. And yes they are a hoot to shoot.

Alright guys just got back from checking it out....the guy was way off in his description....its an FN Model 1922 with stars stamped all over it....7x57 and drilled for a scope...he also has a bayonet with the scabbard....anyone seen one of these?
