Hi All,
I have an older Winchester 94 in 30WCF that I want to sell but I have no idea what it is worth. It has serial #478### that indicates it was made in 1909. It has a 26" octagon barrel with full length magazine tube, flip up rear sight blades. Bluing on the reciever has gone brown but the barrel and tube still have about 60-70% bluing and the stock has lots of "character", read pretty battered and worn but not broken or anything. Can anyone help me with a price for this firearm? I also have a copy of the Winchester Dates of Manufacture book that says 1 of 1000 on the cover. What's it worth if anyone knows as once the 94 is sold I won't be needing it anymore either.

"...made in 1909..." Hi. That alone means it's not considered to be an antique. Has to be made prior to 1898 among other criteria to be an antique. Must be registered. There will be some issues if it isn't. Nothing terrible, but if it's not registered, it needs to be.
"...has gone brown..." That's called 'patina'. Actually a good thing. Don't touch it.
"...30 WCF..." That is .30-30 Winchester.
Include the book in the sale and contact a local gun shop.

I thought it might be prior to 1900 but I figured you guys here would have a better handle on the pricing than the hunting firearms guys, it is nearly an antique;) It's registered, I don't think I'd be mentioning I had it on here if it wasn't:rolleyes: I didn't know if converted bluing was considered "patina" or not but I watch enough Antiques Roadshow to know not to touch it:D and yes I do know that 30WCF is 30-30 but it says 30WCF on the barrel so that is what I put down here. As for taking it to a local gunshop, none of the ones around here have a clue I'm sorry to say:( But hey, thanks for the tips,

Does anyone know any Winchester collectors in Kelowna or the valley that I could show it to to get a better idea of its condition and finish percentage.
