Well brothers and sisters, finally took my brand new reworked m44, which by the way I aquired from Trade EX, to the range today, and I must tell you its a nice little fun rifle to shoot.

I shot some Chinese ammo, 30 rounds, and the rifle worked well. I love that wicket kick one gets from it, makes one feel that you are really shooting a rifle. Kept all the rounds/hits on a 12 by 12 Canadian Tire target, you know, the ones with the orange centre. At 100 yards approx, most shots where 2 to 4 inches left of centre in a vertical group of about 10 inches. So next time i go to range will take a brass driff with me. So I highly recomment getting one as i found it to be a most enjoyable rifle firearm to shoot.

Yeah I love my M44...

Just ordered a repo PU mount and scope to put on it... :) Found a bent bolt on EE ... this is just To improve my groupings of course... and before someone screams Bubba.... I Got it from TradeEx for cheap cheap cheap... Its Non matching and electropenciled.... I did try the nongunsmith mount and it sucks...

I love the Kick... And I even sold my Mosin M91/30 since the M44 is way more fun...

I will be posting picks of my modification when i receive my Mount and scope from Ukrane ...

did you shoot with the bayonet folded back?

Sounds like it as well...

"2 to 4 inches left of centre"

The rifles were sighted in with bayonets folded out as per Soviet military practice of the day.

As for the vertical string, try this easy fix:

PS welcome to the M44 club TGC. :welcome:

Had my M44 out today aswell.. First time I've shot the ol' girl in awhile... Mine's a1953 Polish one, all matching... I was ringing a 10x10" steel gong at 200m with it, w/ iron sights (and my good handloads that it likes)... Was quite happy! Welcome to the club!

How is your trigger? The trigger on mine is pretty hard to pull, but I cut a few rings off the spring in the bolt and now it's a bit better.
