was going to the states soon, and was wondering if i will have any problems with taking the reloader and dies etc from the US into canada? anyone know? tia!

did it say duty on the revenue canada receipt? I'm sure it was probably tax. Due to nafta, the don't charge duty on anything made in nafta countries.

you guys must deal with some anal border agents.... I cross commercial goods nightly, travel to the states every second weekend for shopping. I have never been asked for a CO for personal goods. Commercial yes, not personal. I believe dillon boxes all say made in the usa on the outside don't they? I think your agents are OCD!!!

I just ordered the RCBS rock chucker master kit from bass pro.com. I hope the order goes through. It pains me to buy from the US and not local but locally they want 579.99 for the master kit vs bass pro less than 300 us shipped. I am not sure how the brokerage works exactly but there is no possible way it will make up the 250$ differance...

It goes both ways... I think the customs/excise rules are so complex that even their own staff can't know all the rules all the time...Or they use discretion when the amounts aren't too huge...

I remember a while ago myself and a buddy each bought a Beretta CX4 in the US. Upon import My friend was charged pst/gst and a 3% duty as the gun was made in Italy... When I brought mine in a week later the guy working the counter charged me pst/gst, but didn't bother with the 3% duty..

Also... when comming back from the US it's hit and miss. I'll declare my purchases and half the time I get sent in to pay the taxes.. the other half they just look at my receipts and send me on my way... I'm not talking thousands of $$ worth, but a couple o' three hundred anyway...

As for Dillon... I've always dealt direct. The dollar isn't too bad these days and even so... I'm willing to pay a bit more to have the gear delivered to my door. Buying retail in the US isn't likely to be much cheaper "if" you can find what you want.
It's not like every gunshop in the US is fully stocked with everything... I've seen a lot of bare shelves lately down there and really... No bargains.

Most of Dillon's bags, covers and such are made in China as are most of the electronics (scales, micrometers)...

They certainly use discretion at the booth. Depends on what/when their last raise was lol.

I think there's also a difference between john and joan public comming home from vacation with a few purchases and the commercial importation of tractor trailer loads of goods...

If it's built in the U.S., there's no extra duty beyond GST and whatever sales tax applies to the province you're importing it into. I brought back a Lee press, a set of dies, an RCBS Pro Melt furnace, 2 bottles of Lee liquid alox bullet lube, and a set of RCBS mold handles in February. We had been down for a week, so we were allowed $750 each X 4 so there was no tax. I declared everything, and they didn't even bat an eye.
