I've got the chance to purchase a Vz. 52 in original 7.62x45. Now I understand ammo is not readily available, however I can also pick up a fair amount of ammo with the gun. What should an original Vz. 52 be going for?

As far as I've seen, the gun does not have a magazine, (the seller needs to look). If there is no mag, what could the Vz. be worth? What are the original magazines selling for?... Are they pretty difficult to locate?

And sorry, no pics!

Thanks!

Without a mag, I'd say $200-$300, with, maybe an extra $100. Mags exist, and already pinned to five rounds typically fetch about $75. Ammo is the big challenge. Milsurp ammo shows up rarely and is usually still functional, but sometimes there are many duds. Ammo has to be made and the process requires dies and conversion of brass from 220 Swift, 6.5 carcano or 6.5 Jap. I have the dies and have done the conversion - it's a fair bit of work and not for everyone. It's illegal to manufacture and sell ammo without a license, so I can't help you there aside from advice.

The Vz52/57 was not converted to 7.62x39. They were manufactured in 7.62x39. Some of the Vz 52 were converted by the Czechs though. There is also a sleeve available for a diy conversion of the Vz52.

Does the VZ 52 mag handle the VZ 52/57 7.76x39?
In other words - can I use my VZ52 mags in my VZ 52/57? or are they different? It appears to fit allright - i dont now about feeding tho as yet.

They're similar, but have many differences, and won't "work". I have several VZ52 mags and too few VZ52/57, so I wish, but sorry, no.

I've used Vz52 mags in one of my Vz 52/57 numerous times with no problems. I asked Buddy Hinton about it before I tried it. He said they'll work fine. The guys in the states that are having problems all seem to be having the same troubles. On the 8th shot on feeding problems arise from the ammo moving during recoil. With 5 shots I'm not experiencing these troubles so far.
