Crossman g1 extreme

I am letting a friend borrow my shotgun for a while and for cheap kicks I borrowed his brand new 1000FPS Crossman g1 extreme. Do any of you guys own this gun? I took it to the range and off the bench at 25 yards it is all over the paper. I have tripple checked and lock tighted everything. Tried different scope, and mounts, and ammo etc. I have also cleaned it multiple times. It will shoot ok for a while and then go hay wire for a while. I have read a few other sites that people have had similar experiences. What gives? Any practical advice? Any idea the cause of the problem? I have ruled out scope or mounts as the issue. Is this gun just a piece of junk? Any input on this one would be appreciated.
 
What scope? airguns are notoriously hard on scopes, and if it's some generic "came with the gun" scope, it's junk and it's getting beat to hell.
 
The barrel hinge needs to be modified with steel washers because there is too much play at the barrel hinge. You will see that the iron sights are more accurate than most any scope on this gun.

If you used your firearm scopes, then you can basically kiss them goodbye at this point. Unless they were designed for rimfire.
 
I have used a scope I had on an SKS. I have since put it back on the SKS and it is fine. Why would a scope have to be designed for a rimfire to work on a pellet gun? I understand the spring rocks it a bit but the sks slams scopes around too.

Not for a rimfire, but designed for an airgun.

The difference is that a rifle recoils backwards, but a spring powered airgun actually recoils forward.....and non-airgun scopes arent designed/braced for this type of recoil.

Look at it this way: Take the scope you have on your SKS and mount it backwards for a mag or three.....it won't likely survive :)

Rimfire scopes are designed to be used on airgun as well, or so I've heard.

What wrong way said, except that airgun springs recoil both forward and back very fast.
