hunting nood, looking for mentor or place to learn

In south central Ontario ( basically) south of Hwy. #7 and it does go by county by-law the regulations say the largest caliber allowed is .275 Rigby (7x57 mauser). The reg was put in place so that hunters would not be able to use surlpus .303 British full jacket ammo. Check the reg's.

Largest caliber or largest cartridge?? I love the 7X57, but why would that be the upper end? I would prefer people using that compared to a 240 weatherby or some other small caliber/large case wildcat wizbang super cartridge. I am not harping on you, just questioning the validity of this law.

Yea didn't really mean for the spelling mistake on noob, once I wrote it I didn't notice til later and it was too late to fix it. My bad.

Ye the caliber thing is pretty dumb, i was reading about it in the regs the other day and it blew my mind. also ya dave i'm in ontario, in fact ill be living in london come september because im going to western so ill be in your area.

Seems like there's enough of us from London, or that will be from London that we should set something up. I have some hunting experience but none around here since I only moved here a year ago.

Yea I think london is filled with people who wanna learn to hunt but london doesn't really have many areas near it so it makes it a hard thing to do for someone new to it

Well.....I am NEAR London.....on the Outskirts really.......you have to decide what kind of HUNTING that you want to do. I have numerous properties at my disposal.....this has come at a price of 10 years or so of developing various relationships with the Landowners of the area. I hunt pretty much everything that can be legally hunted, Bbbbbuuuuttttttt.....some properties I can only hunt certain species......and some I am NOT willing to share with others...if someone were to want to go goose hunting in the London area, I can probably help out with that.....if someone wants to have a deer hunt, with a bow, later in the season, I can probably help out with that as well.

What kind of hunting is it that you want to do?

I'd be up for any waterfowl or bird hunting. I head to 43B on Manitoulin for deer so thats not as big of a concern. If anyone wants to do some exchange of some hunting down here for some time bowhunting for deer there I'm game.

I am down for waterfowl, any upland hunting and small game. I am confident with my skills/usage of a shotgun but not at all with a rifle of anything more then a .22 yet....which could turn out bad in more then one way.

well bro i live in southern ontario sharbot lake actually and if you wanna come huntin just pm me and ill take you with me

One thing I hate about public land, which is all I have at my disposal for waterfowl is the day restrictions that I dont quite understand. Mon,wed, fri sat, kind stupid and some are only half days.

lucky for me my wife is most of the farmers vet so I get lots of land for deer and turkey if I want it.

So far in my area, the corn is not coming off:mad:. Any geese that I do see, are in cut hay fields, and very sporadic. This past summer has screwed everything up, corn is late, beans are late etc.. Plus work right now is kicking my butt. Not to worry, I will get something set up for London CGNer's.
