Black Bear Bait???

So I was into my bait monday night, later than I would have hoped to be and stumbled across a big boar. He looked to be a good shooter but I was told that since I spooked him he might not be back.....Any tips?

One of the outfitters north of Sudbury brings up 45 gallon barrels of not quite good enough to sell jam from some place in Michigan, were he is from. he uses other stuff to get them to the bait, then switches to the sweets. I expect he mixes it with stale bread and other stuff to stretch it out.

I was on an American forum and they were talking about using anise oil it smells like licorice.

They recommended pouring the stuff (not much) over a dead stump at the bottom of a drainage that way the wind would push it up the drainage and any bear that can smell it would be on it's way down right away.

I'm not hunting bear, but this guy seems to like the deer corn(it has molasses mixed with it)from TSC I have out for the deer.
