opinions on Rem Sendero 300saum

I buddy of mine wants to buy one of these rifle. He (and I) would like your opinions on the rifle and caliber.

Excellent platform for the rifle, though they are very heavy. For the crazy price that Rem is asking for them now though , I would buy an action and have a smith put a premium barrel on it.Get the stock of your choice and off you go!! As for the caliber I think the WSM will eventually eclipse the Rem SAUM's. Just my opinion.

I think If your gonna go with the SAUM your better off just going with a 300 win mag(same ballistics,cheaper ammo, and quite possibly the SAUM ammo could be discontinued in the future!
But If your friend wants to go 30 cal in ultra mag then tell him to go and get a 300 Remington Ultra Mag(RUM).

The SAUM's just dont seem to have caught on like the rest IMO.

Yeah, my problem with the SAUM exactly. If you do get a good buy on a SAUM, but a bunch of brass.

Sendero: Too expensive for my taste and to heavy. I want something that I'm not afraid to bash around. Hunting rifle are tools for me, not furniture.

SAUM is a nice cartridge, but I'd go with a WSM simply because components are easier to find and generally better quality.

What are your guy's thoughts as to why the SAUM haven't caught on??
Otherwise, the sendero is a nice rifle, but they are monster weight wise.

I have a Sendero in 7saum. Great rifle, shoots good (moa average) and I haven't really done any tinkering to the ammo so Im sure it can do better. The odd group goes in half moa
